I think you're joking, but you know that Guru, the software by FXpansion - does exactly this. You put in a loop, and it analyses the samples, puts kicks on the bottom, snares on the second from bottom, hats on the third, and other stuff on the top row.

Then it sets the default pattern (it has a grid edit) to reproduce the original loop.

It doesn't work 100%, and I got really bored of using the PC, but it was pretty good.

I want voice recognition for naming samples, tracks, programs and sequences. JJ will probably have it in 4.16

i want 2 things really bad but will never get them. 1st i would love if JJ made it so you could have different loop points per pad. if you have a sample assigned to multiple pads.. they all get the same loop points cuz its the same sample. i wish i could have separate loopz without having to load copies of the file. its not a big deal at all but it'd be nice.

2nd i would like a 're-sample' feature. something that would let me choose a sample, tell which fx i want to apply to it, and then render the fx'd sample already trimmed.

i want jj to make my mpc just make my own beats for me.

the ability to create pgms directly from the hard disk would def be nice

at this point i'm making all pgms by hand, 99% of the time...haha so i guess my advice is...uh...get used to it?

hopefully someday jj will improve the file browsing setup so instead of browsing from oldest sample to newest, you can browse straight to newest.

Auto-assign samples in a folder has been at the top of my list for the past year......

Of course I would only put 64 samples in the folder...

auto assign could be reaallly cool, you could make drum folders instead of pgms (w/out the layers etc)

would be really cool yeah but even cooler would be auditioning samples while the sequencer is playing

^ that's not gonna happen apparently it's a hardware limitation which won't come true. usually what i do is just sample the seq i'm working on into my sp404 and then just set it to loop while previewing samples on my hard drive. very good workaround for those w/ sps!

well i have one but its not hooked up to my mpc because i dont want all my sounds to go through that little bastard simply because the mpc sound quality is better in my ears.

that's funny. i actually like the 404 sound better, it's uglier than the mpc sound

i know it really sounds like it comes out of a metal box and think its better to be able to choose for it afterwards instead of processing all your sounds through it. and i think lots of people would agree.
