hehehe, or I could get *really* redundant and put in request #2847359485458 for JJ to have any pads that have simult setup to send out the simult MIDI information....actually, I probably should, as emailing JJ on this did nothing

No more than the many times I've seen you call for the removal of the old program mode

Ah, gotcha...
Actually, I thought I read somewhere that you communicate w/JJ, have they ever explained why they keep the old program mode?

It seems that some of our complaints for minor changes have resulted in major bugs. JJ needs to get it right soon cuz he runnin' out of numbers. If we get to 5.00, I'm demanding that another major feature be added.

Yeah, Pitch Shift can go too! That makes more room for more stuff.

emails every now and then based on questions i asked. i haven't asked about OPE and i wouldn't based on precedent. they don't seem to like getting rid of old functions in favor of new or changing the way some simple things work because it might allay new yewsers who are coming from the original os and are scared of change
also, it'd be hellish for me to try to communicate everything without misunderstanding, and i'd rather not waste their time.
hence, old program mode is probably here to stay, regretably
although i would propose keeping the shortcut key (mode pad 7) and just having that direct you to this screen instead of OPE:
since it's the same thing just better

Whoa buddy, know your place.
JJ didn't make the OS specifically for you, he's matching the needs of all the people who want an alternative product. Show your respect for someone who has made an amazing piece of software instead of whining like the kid who wants a new transformers toy. All you payed for it is 30$, it's not like you invested a lot of money into this. I doubt he's making money from selling the software, he could make much more money putting his software talents elsewhere.
Same thing goes for the old program mode, lots of people need it still, it would put a lot of us without a leg to stand on.

What the **** are you talking about. I am not complaining about more features. I guess I should have put the
in there so idiots like you wouldn't pop up.

That's fine, as long as we can get rid of Pitch Shift.

I actually came up with an idea that I thought might make a good replacement for the old program mode. I was going to take some JJ screenshots and try to mock it up and see if it would work or not.
The basic idea though, was that it would be kind of a combo between the global program screen and the track mute screen.
all 16 pad samples would be laid out on a grid similar to the track mute screen's grid, and pressing window on either would bring up layers, etc.
it would just be a way to see more information at once but still have all the same functions as the old program screen. the thing is, I'm just not sure if everything would fit in such a way.
Just something I was thinking about though.
And although I don't use it currently, I'm against removing the real-time pitch shift. I could picture it being very handy in a live dj or band setting, using the slider to instantly adjust the pitch so that you are in tune with everything/everyone else.
I do think that JJ doesn't give enough credit to the new users though. As long as any new changes made, even radical ones, were implemented logically, I don't think new users would have all too much trouble figuring them out. I'm all for more uses of the SHIFT key (even if they aren't consistent from screen to screen) and changes, but I doubt we will be really seeing them.

I am so against taking out old features. There are people who might not make the switch to JJ if one of their favorite features is not included.

but isn't that feature on most turntables, mixers, CDJ's, and DVDJ's? Do we need it in another place?

What if you have a cassette tape or CD walkman on input-thru and need to pitch it? Or have a synth plugged in and you have a bass part already sampled into the MPC, but the bass sample is just slightly out of tune with the synth? instead of adjusting the sample and messing up your sequence you can just pitch the synth input
I wish there could just be a way to tap into the RAM a bit more and have a more-feature filled OS. Store it on the CF card and then load it into RAM on bootup or something.
