thanks a lot, I know you put in a ton of time with everything related to your MPC so these should be good.

Appreciate it.

@nym: thanks for the programs!

suggestion: with the velocity layers, have you tried just adding sounds in with increased velocity? i find it gives a much more realistic impression of a drum than the sound completely changing the harder you hit the pad. this method is also more tolerant of sample choice too: ie you don't have to have very similar samples across the layers, you can just have the base sound, and then add high frequencies or whatever with high velocities.

think of it this way:

imagine hitting a drum softly and then progressively harder, you get more sound not different sound the harder you hit it.

ahh, such as this:

1st: 0-127
2nd: 32-127
3rd: 64-127
4th: 96-127

so that harder hits trigger more sounds? i just used those numbers cuz i'm familiar with em. i haven't done much with that. a little, but not enough to really know what i'm talking about.

i imagine that's particularly good when building your own "velocitative" drum sound from, as you said, completely different samples.

i'll try this. it is a different technique. thanks man.

yeah exactly, i found it ties the different velocity hits together more, and hides the steps between velocity layers better. see how you get on. peace

Antonym wrote:the fkin killer thing is that i've been struggling to create drums for fallnotautumn (that lute beat i put up a while ago) and i can't for the life of me do it. i had drums from the cello beat on it before but now i want something different and noting i make sounds good

Don't put drums, add something else (e.g.use pluck sounds, I have been very happy building a rythm track with the pedal sound from the Z8 grand piano multisample programme). Drumless tracks can be good too.
I will check the D/L. Thx.
