i've made all the updates since the beginning of the JJ adventure.(ok i've missed 3 or 4 of them but i think i have all the updates on my computer hardrive...)
i was really amazed by th fact of the new version 2 os to come.
since the start i've been asking for midi cc in to qlink but instead i had real time pitch shift for in put thru.
personnally and professionnaly i can't upgrade to this os because i need to use my actuals sequences and programs settings for concerts...(the both filters which are beautiful instant eq to me can't be compared to resampling...)

i won't upgrade (perhaps i'll give a try) if this new os is not backward compatible.
i thought about using differents os but actually with the few news we have, it seems that the new os is more live playing designed than the JJ os 1. (aftertouch+midi cc in) so i won't really need it in my home studio...
and i need my os 1 settings for concerts...

so i just wait to see what will happen.

well, squeaky wheel gets the grease. jj pulled out velocity switching (!!!), we made some noise & so he put it back in. jj responds to what users want so if something is a problem we got to let him know. better to let him know now while he's still creating the code, instead of when it's released & then he has to go back in and change a bunch of stuff he's already written. catching this stuff early while it's still in progress saves him & us both a bunch of time & hassle.

And beats pay my mortgage.

not to sound like a cock but **** -- use what you have and jam it out. i find that any time im forced into using new soundsets or a different workflow that the results are always surprisingly unique and gratifying to me.

stop being such **** weiners. buy it or dont. assimilate or dont.

wow, beats pay your mortgage.
whoop dee fckin doo.

what the hell does that have to do with any of this if me and you are making different types of music or approaching it differently? beats paying your mortgage could easily translate to you using note repeat on everything and only using premade sound sets (?) or crappy sound modules for all i know.

not trying to knock what you do if thats what you do, but i'm just trying to make the point that just cause this stuff doesn't affect YOUR particular workflow means nothing to me.

i can adapt to whatever or choose not to buy the OS, but when i see a list of functions he is deleting i have a right to be a bit dissapointed.

peace.

im not pissed of and im not a dick and im not saying u guys are dicks
but plz.. wait be patient !!!

see, it'd be different if JJ had just put up some screenshots of new features on the page and people were sitting thinking "hmm...where are the old features? since i dont see them on his page i'm gonna ASSUME he deleted them and start flipping out for no reason...."

if that was the case i'd agree with you...

but JJ is clearly putting up a list saying "these features HAVE BEEN DELETED."

there is no speculation there at all. he's deleting stuff, which i find to be disappointing cause i usually agree with JJ's take on things (up until now).

and this post wasn't meant to be panicking as much as it was disappointment. if i was panicking i would say "people we gotta bombard his email!!!" or "we gotta demand this or that...." but that wasn't what i was saying at all. i was just trying to say i'm disappointed cause i see more and more features getting deleted.

ohh and i think sooty_g's last post was pretty on point as well.

later...

I feel that what's suppposed to be removed is integral and what defines "samplers" in general and should not be removed.

What's a sampler if it doesnt have velocity to envelopes modulation? Is it a sampler if there's no velocity layer switching? Call me old-school but that's the way it is in my eyes.

I can understand that jj wont be able to satisfy everyone and he's gonna have to make tough decisions. I like the new interface, and most of what he's adding to the os, however i feel that these are the BASICS on which we can build up adding features. I don't consider important to have chop-shop if i can't get velocity modulation! I hope we and jj don't get lost in "marketing features" - let roland do that.

you're right modnar.

though i actually wanted to write about the attack/start/etc modulation in my original post, and not about envelope modulation! sorry, my bad. i guess by the time i pressed "reply" i had forgotten what jj is removing.

my point still stands though -- hopefully.

LOL, Yeah, I overlooked that too and complainted in other threads. Sorry.

Anyways, on the main screen, I still noticed the track Velocity percentage was gone, which is a pretty essential feature to me. JJ didn't mention that he deleted it or anything like that so maybe it's accessible from the main screen but hidden under the "Window" button or something. I don't know so I'll just have to wait until it's released and try it out for myself to find out. We have to realize OS2 is in a very early stage of development and this is just the beginning. So who knows what JJ could add/modify/improve next.

It is nice to see that they added non-destructive chopping (I don't even have that on my 4000), pitch envelope, and full ADSR envelopes for everything. So yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to OS2. It's amazing what JJ already did with OS1 and I'm a proud user of it.
