i thought the pitch env did this anyway....is there more to it than the bend? just curious, im wandering why jj has categorised it in terms of sample rate, i mean, all a sampler ever does to pitch a wav around IS change the sample rate, but described rather in terms of semitones.

there's direct reverse playing on this page...

seems that Portamento would be added in a next version.

Just a quick update to my "history" post (which BTW may or may not be 100% accurate) --

If you do a keyword search of the regular 1000 forum for the term "hack" pretty much all of the relevant posts will come up (the search only turns up half a page of results so you won't get swamped).

There is TONS of now rather amusing paranoia about the "naughty" then - new software, but the most relevant thread (w/screenshots) is copied below.

(Antonym -- this is the thread we were thinking of.. and the mystery man was.............. who else?!?)

haha yeah man i just read that. very funny - sparq, lampdog, even distortedtekno were all very cautious of this software, then the last post is distorted saying "watch my back i'm going in"

and then there was nothing after that, very ominous

if that thread was the only history we knew, it wouldve meant a dark end of distortedtekno hahah

^^ .

btw. if we are in history class:
anyone remembers the first thread in which the mpc1000 pad problem occured? i´d like to read this and the following just for sentimental reasons.

when this happened to my mpc years ago i thought i was the only one,
not being aware that there are probably thousands with the same problem.

hell, bro i don't know if the forum archive goes back that far. that was about a year before my time, maybe more.

i bet the first mpc1000 with pad problems was the first floor-display mpc1000 in a music shop

well. the first post on the mpc1000 thread is dated sept 2003.
it discussed the manual found online and the varying releasedate of the mpc1000.

so i believe there must be threads about the dying pads, as the pads on my mpc purchased spring 2004 died after 6 - 8 month.
but there are waaay too much pages to go through (like 200) and i thought,
maybe someone remembers these days

i´d be interested in how people dealt with the problem until you brought
nym´s padfix up.

as far as i can remember it was a very slow process from recognizing
the first hickups on the kickdrumpad to the definite death of 8 pads.

i´d love to read the discussions and conspiracy theories on this one as i really like to browse these forums sometimes. it is reading like a very funny but also informative book. i pissed myself by laughing at some storys or discussions but found also VERY informative stuff which made me go back to my mpc.

yeah man if you want a real laugh search my posts and start at the beginning and work your way to now. my first question here was "what is the notation of D (duration) in step edit?" i wanted to know whether or not it was in ticks or not (it is). rather than try to figure it out, i just didn't get it. i was way too unfamiliar with units of measurement back then to figure it out for myself.

hahaha...ohh damn!! i almost forgot about that post!
i remember sweating bullets when i loaded the first file up.

looking back, i find it especially funny that my 1000 died, not from loading up any 3rd party applications, but rather from bad screw placement on akai's design part.

f*ckin akai....
ohh well.

haha... that was so long ago. i remember loading the OS. but i didn't really get far with it. so i didn't really have anything to mention after that.
when jj re-emerged later in the year and i noticed the website was the same url, i was shocked because i never thought it would've gone beyond what we had originally seen back then.
who would've thought?
i'm still amazed by all the development that continues to this day.
nym definitely hit the nail on the head by naming jj the japanese jenious, and it's funny how the name stuck with him, as it's officially recognized as such by jj himself.

Wow, great read. I believe I am in the company of some great people, but should we view you (JJ & ANT) as a trend setters or pioneers?? I'm fine with both but what does anyone else think??

not me, just jj. the programmer is the real pioneer. i just take what's given and pan for gold.

i'm just a facilitator, if that.
