Imagine:

"Yo son... that beat you sold me... I can hear the timing is all f*cked up.." Those hits were 7 miliseconds of from eachother. They not gonna bang this on the radio, I want my money back"

lol

this thread is pretty wack..

Depends on the music you are making. If you are one of those wanting 960ppq timing, then 7ms will matter to you. The delay is important and the amount that the delay varies is important too.

There's a difference and you can hear it, trust me. I wouldn't have carried out the test in the first place if I didn't suspect something was wrong and wouldn't have sold the 4k when I did find out how bad it was!

You wanna hear what bad timing sounds like? Check this Stoni track she did for a Remix mag review of the MV8800.. Now that things sounds even sloppier than the MPC4000! - http://remixmag.com/more_stuff/mix_time.mp3
Listen to the hi hats, the kick and how there's flams, late notes, early notes, and none of them are consistent like they were programmed that way. It's just spitting out the samples all over the place.

Not only that, the track is wack!

Jeeeeezus!
That track is just badly programmed. She's layered two of the same sample on top of one another which has created the crap phasing every so often (cos as we all know, mpc's and mv's are not sample accurate). Also, she's going for skittering hats but simply hasn't programmed them tightly enough.

If you haven't checked it already, a really good site about sequencer precision is at http://web.webhost4life.com/innerclock/index.asp?action=page&name=34
Their stats for the MPC-3000 are:
Maximum variance between consecutive quarter note intervals: 4 Samples (0.09ms)

lol.. if ur interested like......... I, personally like that kinda sheet

oh yeah... and I never, ever use my pc as clock master, I slave my mpc to a Roland MC4
