Truth +2. However, I do believe that as good as his programming skills are, might be as Bad as his marketing logic is. You shouldn't raise the price of something as a response to lack of demand. It's straight economics...

Alternative viewpoint: propective buyers still have plenty of time to snap up the OS at the original prices. If you've been undecided, it's now make your mind up time. Support JJ, be an active member of the JJ OS community and maybe, just maybe, you can make some positive suggestions to be implemented in a future update that will change YOUR MPC for the better.

reaper increased its price from $40 to $50 at version 2.0
nothing to be shocked about, or surprised - you're getting so much more than what you pay for
i use os2 as my main sequencer/sampler, it accounts for 85% of my workflow. while i do report bugs, i am getting better songs done than i have ever created yet
a comparable software midi sequencing/sampling suite, if it exists, would be in the lower hundreds of dollars

10 dollars is too much for a substantially better OS? Wow. Those who complain about that must not be THAT serious/interested in creating music. Maybe its a bad move on JJ's part from a marketing standpoint, but....going digging costs me WAY more than that.

yeah it's probably not the best call cuz it gets in the way of people's logic
i like the idea of a bundled os package
better yet i like the idea of a completely discontinued os1 (no longer for sale/download after last bugs are killed) and a single $50 os2 price

also, perhaps some of you aren't following exactly what is happening to this country
but we are currently seeing a drop in US currency
the dollar is weaking, folks, you're gonna have to accept that
do some research if you want to see exactly how much worth the dollar has dropped over the last year
if you want to place blame, don't blame another nation's business for YOUR nation's dropping dollar
blame those who would say your nation is "not headed toward recession"

I have nothing but respect for JJ and his team for all the hard work they have done.
I've held off purchasing OS2 simply because its still in Beta, and OS 1 continues updates.
I need my MPC to be rock solid during my Live PA shows
a simpler upgrade path between OS1 to OS2, and better documentation are essential
please continue to innovate, I dont mind paying more if its a stable release with alot of extra features.
just dont try to squeeze the rest of us into a overpriced Beta version.
I hope we dont have the JJ home edition, JJ office edition, JJ pro edition and JJ ultimate edition OS
maybe once the OS2 bugs should get fixed, and OS 1 + OS 2 should disappear to just be the OS(2)
ONE brilliant stable OS(2) with continued updates would be perfect at $50
most of all, keep up the good work

$50 to get both os1 and os2 as a bundle is a great idea.
but making os1 completely disappear so people can ONLY get os2 is f*ckin retarded.
in my eyes thats like discontinuing Windows XP and forcing EVERYONE to use Vista.
while lots of people love os2, some people don't necessarily need all the bells and whistles.
os1 is pretty much in its final stage of bug hunting anyway, so why not leave the choice up to the user.....

everyone's workflow and needs are different!

1. JJ has charged MPC 2500 users $49 from the start
2. OS2 is still a beta with plenty of issues that need to be fixed so increasing the price may be a bad move
3. JJ has an OS comparison chart for anyone not understanding the differences
4. Simult sequence was available in MPCs created over 20 years ago
5. OS2 is not a return to the basic principles of sampling
6. MPCs have always been sampling drum machines/MIDI sequencers best used with Akai’s stand alone samplers such as the S950 and 3000
7. Most software samplers and stand alone hardware has ADSR envelopes that are more powerful than what MPCs offer. This is what you should be using instead of being limited by an MPC.

In response to Nym.....I hear you, it can't be easy having to translate everything from Japanese to English. I understand why the language in the manuals is clunky.
Contrary to some users I feel the price of JJ OS1 and OS2 is a bargain. Compared to the total price of the MPC and considering the improvements JJ is a must buy.
My beef is that there is a very steep learning curve for each OS.
I get embarrassed asking simple questions but otherwise I am stuck.
Maybe 12 months down the line I will learn most of the features bui I am a manual type dude. If there is a decent manaul then I can figure most stuff out quickly. Otherwise I'm in the hands of the good people on this forum.
