arebee i think the days of the major show stopping bugs is over. we need you and other people who really push the MPC to stick around in these early days of OS 2. not just to find bugs but to give feedback straight to JJ on things you want implemented. we've all got a greater chance of getting our requests responded to NOW while things are in active development as opposed to later when codespace gets tight.[/quote]

yep, i hear yer.

just runnin 1.11 now.

as long as i dupe all previous os progs, im happy, all since u lot assuring theres no disaster bugs in it, ill have fun...

ok im goin' in- once again..... "cover me"

sooty put that better than i could ever do it.
plus, i had very bad internet connection last night (BestWestern) so sorry i couldn't have written something more "inspirational"

good to have you on board
we've hopped quite a few boats now.

because i never liked track mutes, i am lucky by comparison. i haven't had a function change or reversal which has left me stranded with certain projects -- excluding the obvious of os2's nonconformity with os1 material.

My opinion is the JJ OS 1+2 are very great ideas but do they translate to progress musically? I think not. With so many bugs the creative process needs cant flow. I would not like to experience a bug, report it wait then experience another bug in the next update only to find out there is another bug reported that I didnt even know about that gets fixed only to open another bug etc. I feel people get caught up in the hype. How many features do you really need?

that's how ALL programs get created. name ONE program that's ever been released bug-free?
bugs are a part of life. noise in the system. you can never get rid of it.

think of a company like Adobe with all the resources & people they employ. you know how many bugs Photoshop/Illustrator/ etc. have? plus JJ is 10 times more responsive than these big companies.

i agree, like i said before, i was well up for the trade off's that were to try a very dynamic OS design (JJOS1, not that waste of space that was AKAI OS) in return for having to mention any hiccups i had to JJ....as long as they weren't very serious hiccups....and see it improve....and have a direct hand in its improvement by spotting bugs no one else discovered (a bit of 'pride' for reaching depths no-one else had).....and to help suggest solutions that enhanced my way of doing things.

but once OS2 was out, it was a different deal......it looked like i'd based my habits on behavior that was only to be any use in OS1......and lost interest in the fact that this 'breakthrough' in increased OS memory space - meant also that OS1 was no longer in development. i didnt see any point in re-doing the OS since there was a great foundation in OS1 to continue further with the new space....

so i felt marginalised where OS2 was concerned.

but its a good setup, different, but were all way more flexible thatn we really know, its proven after 10mins on the new OS2, better results.....simple.

just needs a leap of faith, like OS1 was to the AKAI OS staple users.

Have you used OS1 or OS2 ? if not, how do you know? what hype? - it's an OS not a film.
How do you know they don't 'translate to progress musically'
What experience have you had with the jj OS, what have you based you opinion on? Akai OS2.11 ?

if you are just speculating, i'd say you are talking from your mindzeye which you are sitting on ;)

i think it's unwise to slag off something you have no experience with. without first getting some background
on the subject. as others reading it may think you have some knowledge and background in using the jj OS.
personally - i get irritated when people do this - as it suggests jj OS is a bugfest - when this is simply not the case.

the bug fix reports are on the jj web site show what's getting done.
and most bugs don't effect most users - as the main core is stable.
it's the new implementations that get the bugs - and you don't have to use them till ready.
personally - i've only once been hindered by OS2 and that was pre release.
never had a stack dump error or any sort of crash - or anything major since the release.
I've come across things like screen corruption and small stuff etc.
But i sent in bug reports and they are fixed within days.
What company do you know that has that sort of turn around for bug fixes?
especially in a hardware OS - example how long do akai take to release an OS update?
ahem ??? - when was the last update?
Are there no bugs in Akai OS2.11 ?
By dtaa pla muk Fri May 23, 2008 2:05 pm
there far less bugs in os2 than in Akai os 2.11.
mindzeye, with this in mind, how would you rephrase your post?

EDIT: recent testimonial, fairly indicative of the vast majority:

dosle wrote:I just got JJOS latest version last week but it has been super helpful to me. I had been dealing with the standard Akai OS for 1.5 years now and never really got into it as far as ease and creativity... but since this last week it's brough about alot more stuff I am pretty happy with. Keep in mind i have installed my own hard drive in the mpc and do alot of live recording and chopping... so the JJOS chop and sample handling is amazing. something about the factory OS was just a pain and that took a lot out of me, it's hard to feel the beat when your getting pissed at a drum machine :)good luck!

i agree, the first n second AKAI OS's were abysmal in terms of crippling workflow bugs,

but needless to say "mindzeye" perhaps u prolly didnt encounter any, as , a'm not sure u use the mpc very deeply.

finally entered my password and used OS2 tonight. I didn't use it in depth, just ADSR on some samples. Actually, I found the OS2 pad sensitivity really dope (especially the threshold level i didn't notice on os1, shame on me!)

One thing that bothered me, which i didn't see mentioned in the forum, since i got my new pads and installed it ; I think when hitting the upper range of pads that makes an awful sound (kind of metallic vibration noise inside the mpc).
