absolutely. when you record, it records the audio track sampled in AS a sample, but you don't have to put it on pads. however, you can always just open it up in trim and chop it as well. or so i assume from what i did with it earlier today - i didn't actually chop it but i see no reason why it wouldn't work.

so there is no direct recording???

It doesnt matter to me really...In the INPUT through screen..I discovered i can send it in and out without having to record it to my MPC just to my 4-track. Using the assignble outs...I dont remember if this feater was in 2.10 but i just discovered a good tool for me...Thats what i wanted..

ok....so i've pretty much now determined that i can't install a new OS without a working CF reader. CRAP. I'll give Nick a call at VST tomorrow and see when they might be getting some more replacement readers in...i'm dying to try out this OS.

Try creating an autoload folder on your hard drive, copy the bin file there and set the mpc autoload function on.

1 - A 3rd party released a new beta os that allows many of the same functions as the 2500 direct recording, grid seq...etc..

2 - It will be about 25 bucks or soo?

3 - When exactly will the savable version of the os be available? does anyone know that yet??

It's saveable and fully functioning (minus some bugs posted that you need to avoid). So download, install and have fun exploring all the new features. 8)
