and how about sending Program Change ...... by hitting a pad?

i've found the best way to change programs on the fly is just to change sequences. you can make however many copies of your sequence as you want, assign a different program to them & rename them, then just switch between them in the NEXT SEQUENCE screen with it set to IMMEDIATELY PLAY.

BUT... i did have a request a long time ago for JJ to create a NEXT PROGRAM screen. it would look just like NEXT SEQ screen but would have all the programs listed instead of the sequences. you would get to it by a double press of the NEXT SEQ key (one press = NEXT SEQ, press it again and it would go to NEXT PROGRAM. subsequent presses would go back and forth between the 2 screens).

never got a response on it so i don't know what happened. probably he just didn't get enough requests for it. it would be nice to have but having just NEXT SEQ available is a pretty good way to get the same functionality with just a little more setup work involved.

NearTao wrote:As alluded to, there are two different types of job wheels (geeze, now you've got me typing mod wheels :) that the MPC is shipped with. I forget when Akai switched over, but I think it was around the black -N's came out with the pad upgrade built in.

Anyway, JJOS2XL apparently cannot determine which type you have during boot up, so you have to specify in the options which you have to get it to work properly.

where is this in mode + other? I cannot find it!

I just switched from the 1000 to the 2500. I installed jjos xl 1.44 and my data wheel did the every 4 click thing. So, I went to mode+other and couldn't find anything related to the data wheel, but fidgeted around nonetheless. And then I went back to trim and the problem was fixed. I have no idea what the issue was, but it was identical to the problem described above, however, I'm on the 2500. thanks anyways

no doubt... i couldn't pass up on the fact that the 2500s were selling for as much as the 1000s on ebay either [assuming you bought used of course]. i do still also have a 1000 for the road though...

i did buy used...or it was a display model. I got it for the 1000 list price. my 1000 is so beat up, it needs some serious rehab to be a useful/reliable machine. I just gave my pads to a buddy, and put the defective ones back in

Ha! nice one JJ, good to see a run of updates re:XL and fixes re:OS2 recently!

by the way, that guy asking for developments in the pad>CC is really onto something.
i like this new feature, but yes theres loads of room for improvement, so like said above, we could really use a few modes:

on press, toggle , on release (oh and pressure value mbe*)

*i'm still running OS2, so cant try out these cc's just now , but can anyone clarify if this pad>cc feature is sending the pressure as a value range (0-127 like a kind of fader) or just the one value?

pce

yo to sooty - s'been a while.

nah. it's just sending a fixed value on pad hit. the pad pressure to midi cc value is a great idea and we definitely need to hit JJ with the request. i'd actually also like to see if there was a way we could send a string of midi data this way, so that we could store presets from external midi gear and recall them with a touch of the pad.

and i have to say something that will shock the peeps on this forum but i have now moved over to 2XL full time!!

i was a hardcore os 2 holdout for a long time but this latest update really pushed it over the edge for me. i spent a weekend trying it out and i was sold. qlinks are still gimped but they control more things so it kind of balances it out. pad mute is dead useful. the pad/midi cc stuff has a ton of potential. now we just gotta push JJ to improve/refine this stuff a bit more.

It had to happen!

The new LFO tweakage with qlinks is a recipe for losing a good few hours at a time. If I could record all 4 it'd be cool, but alas it may never happen.
