yeah, but if you can assign a pattern to a pad, then all you have to have for pattern grid song mode is essentially the current grid mode, you just record the events of each pad to the grid.........the differance being, patterns that are triggered need to be able to be played simultaneously layered on top of each other with differant loop lengths.

you can load whole folders now, but yeah, it doesnt auto create pgms.

on inst pgms if you name your multisamples correctly it will auto map the samples.

Thanks!!! I will have to play around with that..I am NO GOOD at keeping track of my samples or naming them..I mean they will say "kick-1" but I have tons of "Kick-1's"...I really hope JJ will make it auto program but I know there are more important things ahead of it!

This summer marks 5 years since the beginning of the JJ OS. It's been amazing with the amount of features we've got over the years, and I really hope OS3 solves the existing Q-Link limitations. I like what JJ is doing as far as adding more MIDI functionality. But I prefer more STANDALONE features that make the MPC more fun to use by itself for added inspiration and creativity. The next 2 years or so could be very interesting.

i wonder if this will be a paid-for update?
if jjos is on every MPC, there's no reason to improve it (from a financial perspective)
whereas if it's a subscription model (ala Cockos Reaper) the money keeps flowin and thus the os keeps growin. as long as the price is reasonable and the changes aren't too agonizing for folks

The next 2 years could be make or break in a lot of ways. Some of it in JJ's hands, some of it not...

If he keeps expanding (and thus complicating) the OS, people may begin to grow tired of the constant additions. I for one need very little extra functionality in the midi department, but it's cool for those that do. The MP isn't my main instrument these days though, so I find it tough keeping up with the progress.

The other possibility is that Akai may release an updated MPC line that kicks the shit out of the 'current' models. The rats (including JJ) will probably desert the sinking ship at this point.

Stranger things have happened...

It's too bad that Pattern Mode just froze up my MPC. Not sure how it happened. But I need to reproduce the bug to report it.

Personally I hope it will be paid - it should be.... It would be fair...

If its a paid update it probaly wont get the name jjos 2xl 3.0. It wil get jjos 3 or jjos 2xxl.
So i think its a free update wich is fine because we al paid alot of money for jjos

I would not use the sentence "alot of money". I don't think that the persons behind JJOS can live from the money they get ;-)

YES! note variation is going to be visible in MIDI track step edits in os2xl 3.0...this means those of us programming our chopped sample DRUM pgms in MIDI grid don't have to change our track type back to DRUM just to access per-pad NV data...

thanks jj

Really hoping JJ can put a limit on the number of voices each individual pad can use. Would be a nice addition to ver. 3.

you mean like a self-overlap threshold?

so if it were a long sample, and set to "limit 3"
you could play it over itself 3 times before the newest would cut off the oldest?
interesting. in what scenario do you see this being useful?
