an interesting offshoot of this trick (it may already be in the thread, i couldn't be bothered to read through the back and forth, so sorry if it's already there) is to give yourself realtime-ish bit-reductiony type sounds. you do the normal sample on layer 1. timestretch that sample, and then pitch down to give the same speed as original. put that on layer 2. repeat for other two layers increasing timestretch amount . of course if the sample is just a one shot, vocal type affair, you could just do this across all 16 pads, and do like a 16 level decimation thang. 'sup to y'all. go forth and experiment (not with your sister , you know who you are, i told you before, that's my job )

I guess you´ve been watching that youtube video that proposes that what you describe above is some sort of realtime timestretching. What you are talking about and that video is showing have nothing to do with timestretching.
