double res for 192 resolution. more places to put your drums. 1 tick becomes 2, and so on.
Antonym - doesn't this affect the swing parameter? I mean, if you double the tempo, you are in effect losing all ability to swing.

Ok, what I meant to say is that unless you adjust the Quantize parameter to 8th note, you will lose all swing.
Doubling the tempo doubles the quantize value. So 8th note becomes 16th.
So in effect, you only have 16th note swing when the tempo is doubled - you lose 8th note swing.

all this talk of notation is a little baffling to me, as i am never in single time resolution so i don't even know how slow normal 8th note swing would be
but really it shouldn't all be as easy as "put it in the right TC slot"
these days, i usually just leave TC off, view everything in midi grid edit and put the note where it's supposed to go.
