that way I could just sequence in the mpc and dump the program in battery and the midi file in logic and pow! my beat is in the daw

Please tell me if I'm missing something, but why would anyone with an MPC 2500 need battery as well?
I use battery but thats because I use a classic 2k which doesn't have mute groups etc.

Battery doesn't have a sequencer. The MPC is a sequencer. Do the math.

Thank you but I'm not an idiot. "Battery doesn't have a sequencer. The MPC is a sequencer. Do the math" lol
Anyone with an ounce of sense would have realised I was asking why you would need Battery when an MPC 2500 has mute groups, effects etc. I am open to sensible answers.
You must have been like a dog with a bone thinking "oh wow this guy doesn't know an MPC has a sequencer, what a pr*ck, I'll have to get a smart answer in then everyone on the forum will think I'm dead clever." pretty sad.
I'm really sorry that the teacher in school never called your name when you put your hand up, but don't take it out on me.

I use battery with my 2500 because sometimes I want to record in 24 bit 96k and dump it into battery the way it is without having to go down to 16 bit back and forth blah blah.........thats one reason

another is ......the mpc 2000xl and I think the 2000 pgms you can load directly into battery ....that way you wouldn't have to run the audio into your daw......rather load your samples directly into battery from your mpc .....save your sequences as midi files and load them into your daw aswell....your beat is now in the daw ready to be mixed or what ever u need to do within your daw

hope that cleared up things

Not interested in getting into a debate about what you know or don't know. But you did ask whether you are missing something. From your response, it doesn't appear you undertstand why anyone with an MPC would use Battery. Anyone who used an MPC and used Battery would know the reason why someone would use both. Not knowing what each product does is not a knock on you and it certainly doesn't relate to your intelligence. So again, the MPC sequences..Battery doesn't. The MPC samples...Battery doesn't. But, what Battery can do for your drums cannot be touched by the MPC 2500.

If I came off like a prick, that wasn't my intention. But I did intend to inject some humor in the response. You just took it the wrong way. If you are really interested in what Battery can do that the MPC can't...we can go into details further (I would be happy to do that) or you can simply visit their respective websites for additional info.

Ok thats cool, like I said I am open to sensible answers. If you're telling me that battery is far better than the MPC for drums thats cool, I can understand why you would want battery. What I don't understand after that though is if people think battery is far better for drums than an MPC why keep a 2500 with all its features: why not sell it and say just use a classic 2k to sequence with?
Like I said I do use battery, but having never had a 2500 I couldn't comment on the 2500's feature's or lack of. I have in the past been tempted by the 2500 but always thought it would be overkill with already owning Logic, Live and Battery.
I have a 2k now which I occasionally sequence with but more just to use as a midi controller these days, I'll admit that. I do have some nice old drum PGMs that I still use inside the 2k, but I can't remember the last time I actually sampled into it.
Another thing I don't really understand is why have a 2500 with all of its audio outputs if you're going to dump a programme in battery anyway to cut down on tracking.
It just seems to me that if this is someone's preferred way of working they should just go totally software in the first place, and maybe an MPC isn't really for them.
People may think I'm being hypocritical here as I own an MPC and battery, but as I've said that is my old cheap 2k, not a new expensive 2500.
Plus from looking at the specs of the JJ OS this seems to have amazing advanced features. It just seems odd to me that people are on this JJ OS forum singing its praises, yet at the same time complaining about non compatibility with software that does pretty much what the MPC is supposed to do, except the sequencer of course. And I know battery doesn't sample directly, but these days if you've got a computer and a soundcard, (which I'm sure everyone on this forum has) you can record audio quite easily.
Again, I'm in no way trying to get on a high horse here and am happy to be enlightened, corrected or told different. :)

... I use to own an mpc2000 with no computer....so I did everything in my mpc2000 then I bought a 2500 ...I used it for a bit and THEN discovered battery and logic ....... I was thinking of going all software your right ......but I always get the urge to get back on the mpc and sample in 16 bit and have some fun with chop shop ...check out where jj is at and all that other mpc fun.... thats why I keep the 2500 around ....it would be a BONUS if when I do use logic I can import programs ....seeing now we have no destructive editing I was hoping it would load the chops up into battery like when you drop a acid loop or rexfile in battery..... that way I could chop all my stuff up on the mpc in chop shop(because I find it FUN and simple and not so boring as a internal wave editor) then throw it in to battery and sequence it with my mpc.....

I v never been in the forum praising jj so get your shit correct.... I think 0s2 is full of bugs and needs big time work ....he has done a lot yes but for 50 bucks os2 needs to step up its game...

any other specifics you need to know ?

I m not trying to correct you or tell you different or show you up...

so seriously what are you complaining about .....what mpc we are using to sequence battery with?

a cheep 1000 has a jj os has most of the 2500 features ....and it will sequence battery as well ....so can an expensive 4000.... what is your point seriously ...that you dont have a 2500 to go back to when you are not using battery and logic .....?

if thats the case all I can say is

shit sucks for you!

2k take about 10 years to load, the speed of the 2500 is very inviting, so fast.

And that is just one of several dozen reasons why the MPC 2500 is far superior to the 2000XL/2000.

I dont think the point he was trying to make was the mpc 2000 is better then the 2500 ... I think he was just questioning why I m using such an "expensive mpc" to just sequence battery when you can practically do the same with a 2000 in the same amount of time .....we are just talking sequencing and to load up a sequence in the 2000 wasent that slow....just the snd. took awhile to load...he is right!....at the same time he doesn't know from time to time I ll go back to my mpc....and when I do go back to sampling and sequencing I m glad its a 2500...

anyhow enough with the bull s*it ......I thought the battery idea was cool ....! but thats for n.i. to worry about I guess

If someone is just going to use the basic sequencer of the MPC and nothing else...sure..an MPC 2000 and Battery would be cost effective. But then if cost was an issue...the MPC 1000 and Battery combo will net you the same advantage as the MPC 2500 and Battery combo.

I spent five minutes with the os2 demo last night. Anyone who can't figure it out just has to step their knowledge game up basically - it's not that hard, especially if you understand music/production principals.

Sheeet, if you don't wanna use it, don't. But I'm stoked with it - it makes the mpc integrate a lot better with hardware/software.

^ using instrument programs as additional layers for external equipment more or less seemlessly...using channel pressure simultaneously with inst pgms and external synths/samplers is nice. you can set different parameters to chan press on both machine and get some really complex rich sound (easy to go overboard and make it too busy but it's fun to see how much you can make it evolve just by pressure)

there's more, but that's my favorite.
