An obvious one would be the ASR-X. Fills in the gaps as a complementary sampler very nicely.

how exactly do you configure your Kontakt Rig and the MPC to work as a sound module with the MPC1000 JJOS XL?
is it not much different than configuring for example Reason as a Sound module - by assigning the same midi channels to MPC as well as to Kontakt?
Its the same as configuring any sound module with any sequencer. Load up a sound in Kontakt, select a MIDI channel you want it to respond to, then select the same MIDI channel on the MPC, and press record. Rinse and repeat.

I don't have a set way to do it. It really depends on what I'm going for. Sometimes I use Kontakt (and other sound modules, synths, plugins or even iphone apps) as sample fodder. Meaning I record whatever sounds are coming out into my 1k, chop it up and make a track that way. Sometimes I use them in a more traditional sense, and sequence the MIDI parts and then track out. Sometimes I use Kontakt as a standalone, sometimes I use it as a plugin inside Ableton. Sometimes I use the 1k's audio tracks to track out the sound module, sometimes I use Ableton's track recording/freeze to do it.
I'm sorry to be so vague, but the way I look at my studio is like a modular set of tools. So its no problem for me to use any two pieces of it in any way that I'm feeling at that specific moment. Like for example sometimes I just grab my MPC and laptop (and a USB MIDI cable) and move into my room to watch a good game. Other times it might be the MPC with my SSL Alpha Channel and Stanton DJF-1 and just go crazy EQing/filtering samples. Other times I might have left all that stuff in my bedroom and just go in the lab and mess around on my Alesis fusion. The goal for me is to generate an idea, and I find that having a set process stagnates me.
