I agree, all of these features have been left out by Akai for a reason. Everytime this guy updates this OS, it's less of a reason to spend more on the 2500.

Either way, it's win win for Akai. It's a very positive situation for them.

i know that the priority should be fix bugs...but i have got a couple of ideas that would be really good to have on mpc 1000:
1-you know that when you fire your mpc you have got a default program1...with all the midi notes messed up? would not be good that the default program has got midi notes in the right order...as the famous blank_melodic program?
2-do you think would be difficult to have some autocromatic function...
i think the first one would be quite easy to fix!

thats not anything we need , whats wrong with just having your programed "program" in you your autoload folder. that way it loads every time you you pwr up the mpc

Yeah, **** that´s a selfish guy. First taking time to actually fix up a function to fit the needs and wishes of us here on the forums, and then deny us the function in a public beta while sorting out how to implement our wishes. Goddamn that´s some sorry ass attitude. I wish this so called "genious programmer" would keep his meaty fingers away from our MPC´s and mind his own business.

On a serious note mr defect, apart from you obviously living up to your username I must say that you´re either a rather stupid or extremly ungrateful human being.
Until you learn to appreciate that people take own initiatives and sacrifice their own time to make a product better and more fitting to all our needs you should shut up.
Until you learn the meaning of the word "beta" you should shut up.
Don´t spit on anybody that tries to help you and many others get a better functioning piece of hardware.

If he was trying to just help people, and if his only objective was to make the mpc1000 a better product he would distribute the source code he is working on and open source his own code to let other developers contribute. But he is not just trying to help people, he is trying to make money.

whaz up? defect is my username(pseudo) since two years.....had nothing to do with these mpc "defect" / disabling of slicing!

i resp the work of the guy who spend time to code the os!
i would pay for that...but slicing is a daily feature ;)

what´s the problem ryssen?

cheers...

all ryssen is saying is that it takes a lot of time to get the whole os up and running, the programmer can't work on it all in one go.

also: the os that's been released is a 'beta' or work in progress, so there won't be all the functions there and it won't be completely bug free either. only after it is a final release can you possibly criticise the chap that's doing the programming. not before.

since when is the slice option away?
i couldnt try it out because of i started with beta10.

(I it never criticized )

greetz...

well this os is completely nothing to do with akai. it is a thrid party os built from the ground up, so i guess the guy just left it out because it was causing bugs or something. if you want slicing desparately, you could just use os 2.1 (the akai one) until this one is done.

That is true. It in no way bothers me as I don´t want to spend my time learning to program or compile, but it´s true.

That is partly true I think, I can´t be sure but from my perspective the guy(s?) don´t seem to be only in it for the money. There are two indicators to that from where I see it.

First off, the guy must be a more or less dedicated MPC 1000 user himself to see the shortcomings of the Akai OS´s and come up with the idea of implementing additional functions, the "plug ins" that were the first things he released I guess was primarelly a thing for personal use that he made available on the web. I don´t remember if you had to pay for those, some where downloading and trying them out maybe they can answer that one.

Second, if he wanted too make money first and foremost I really don´t think he would take so much time in having the OS betatested and certainly wouldn´t listen so much to the views and wishes presented on many of the functions.
I think most people here would pay up for a working copy of one of the first betas with the grid, full program edit, save/load layout.
The work he´s putting down and the fact that there is said to be no function or save limitations I think poitns to that his primary goal is get as a complete, stable and user satisfying OS as possible until it´s time for us to pay him for his work.

Now I aint sayin he a gold digger *boo - bo - bom*
*Da - da - dam*
But he aint messin wit no broke ****** *Bo - Boom*
...and so forth...

If he/them somehow screws us over in the end I don´t know, but to whine cause a function is removed from a public beta to be attended that is just badly spoilet and ungrateful.

No, you misunderstood me. I meant anybody claiming that the removal of a function in the beta of a privately coded OS "iz **** (which I guess spelled sh*t, f*cked or similar before the scrambling)" has some sort of defect.

defect wrote:i resp the work of the guy who spend time to code the os!

Then why do you act out as he´s taking some time to work a function out to better fit our liking. The original peak detection slicing of his OS were not liked by all and from what I´ve understood he´s agreed to make it optional and bring in the old chop by numbers.

defect wrote:i would pay for that...but slicing is a daily feature ;)

For daily work I suggest you use your official Akai OS 2.1 release not private code that currently is subjected to heavy betatesting and bug fixing / function implementing. Check up the differences between official releases of software and beta versions to know what expectations you should have.

defect wrote:what´s the problem ryssen?

Basically that you don´t respect the work of the guy who spend time to code the os!
That you come down on the removal of slice like it was your god given right to be able to download complete and functional versions of a privately coded OS in the works and still on a beta level. That is basically dispespectful and on top of that as I stated earlier either ungrateful, spoilt or plain stupid.

Joeybells, has there even been a discussion on whether or not the guy should get paid? What has been asked is if money is this guys primary objective.
