i'm wondering what is the point of this whole new pattern mode? what can you do with this that you can't already do in the NEXT SEQ screen with change type set to IMMEDIATE?
in fact, isn't NEXT SEQ already more powerful than this? each sequence can have it's own program so when you jump around in the NEXT SEQ screen you can also be changing programs if you have it set that way which allows for a much more powerful change of sounds, fx routing, tempos, time signatures, etc.
essentially, this new pattern mode just allows you to jump to arbitrary bars in your sequence, which sounds like the old PAD LOCATE function (anybody remember that?), but you could also do that now by just making each bar a new sequence in SEQ EDIT and then just switch between them in NEXT SEQ.

Pattern Mode seems like it could be more useful in a live setting. I'm speculating that converting Tracks to Patterns may save polyphony, BUT that's just my guess. I could be entirely wrong about that.
When you set a Sequence to play IMMEDIATE, it can be sloppy. I keep it at END OF SEQUENCE.
Having patterns converting from tracks to pads, makes the performace aspect more like Ableton Live, which may be a bit more fun when performing live. It's more fluid than NEXT SEQUENCE in this regard.
Old PAD LOCATE..... It's coming to me.... LOL yeah it's been a while. I somewhat remember it but not entirely. I need to refresh my memory and look into that again.... WOW... I havent been in SEQUENCE EDIT in a long time. There's some cool stuff in there I didnt even remember being there.
But yeah it looks like the whole PATTERN development is suited for more ease of use in a live situation.
