no doubt. i know jj wouldn't pull something out unless he needed to, i just think he made a bad choice to pull out what he did. the p.mode does something you can't do any other way (except for the tap tempo), so that functionality is lost for good.

if anything, i think p.mode should be expanded. i wish you could assign a lot of different functions to the pads: play a sequence in reverse, step a sequence forward while it's stopped, punch effects in and out, etc.

but i really don't think JJ is going to add anything else to the OS at this point. from here on it's all about the bugfixes.

anyway, i just sent him an email requesting he put p.mode back in and take out other stuff instead (splashscreens, old program mode, real-time pitch shift). i sent him the link to this thread where we discussed it: http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=80900

i'm not gonna hold my breath, but it doesn't hurt to ask. in the meantime, i'm gonna stick with 4.84.

there is no "wrong choice" really, as it is not even possible to get everybody to agree to get splashscreen removed. So i guess any removal will make some people unhappy.
about pad mode, i don't mind to lose it to get more bug fixes. and sorry to say that, but very few people seems to be using it anyway...

aw jeez thanks a magother fagucking bunch man. ill sent him twenty saying keep all them things in, just 'cos i cant live without my mpc cheering me me up with my 'moebius' comic stills jpegs every day.....

true tho' realtime pitch shift's a donkey, best left to the salesmen at the expo's, but not for any interesting music makin, better if there was recordable fx parameter changes in qaddition to the mixer param recording.
