Looks like the XL OS drops on the 22nd... I just have a few quick questions about the notes.
Notes
Since a default setup changes when OS2XL is installed for the first time, or when OS is switched,
please turn on a power supply, pressing the ERASE key.
In addition, please continue pressing the ERASE key until a main screen is displayed.

Please be sure to carry out contrast adjustment of LCD, and sensitivity adjustment of PAD first.

What settings will change? Is this something that will need to be done each time an upgrade is loaded? Also, will pad and LCD settings still be saved once loaded? I just want to be ready to go as soon as this sucker is up... Thanks in advance Nym.

Nym wrote:well, a stereo wav file is just 2 mono files.
both mono files have zero crosspoints in amongst themselves, BUT the odds that both have a zero crosspoint at the exact same time is very unlikely. the stereo file's L and R sides would have to have independent loop sections, which would probably result in phasing....

a true crossfade would really solve this probelm, but you rarely see that even

Nym, I beg to differ with you on this one. The odds that both L and R channels have a zero crosspoint at the same time is actually extremely likely. Just zoom in on any stereo waveform, staring with a zero crossing on the L channel, like what Logic gives you for a zero crossing. At full zoom, usually you only have to scan a few cycles in either direction to find where both L and R cross zero. I do it literally all the time.

So I take it no hardware/software really does this. Seems like an easy enough thing to implement. Guess it's not high on the priorities list...whatever.

Peace,

BG

hm, that's good to hear. i did what you said and lo/behold, you're right. they're obviously not as common as a single channel's zero crosspoint but they are all over the place.

i guess i was forgetting the granularity of sampling rate: in a purely analog setting, these dual crosspoints would be real rare just by the liquidity of the wave form - but of course, there's no such thing as an analog sample (mellotron blah blah blah i mean realistically haha) so we don't have to worry about that.

thanks for teachin me something new.

wubsiba: pad/screen changes. TAP TEMPO is reset, autoloads are reset, record monitor on/off is reset. storage device preference is reset, etc. i actually still haven't done the whole shift/save prefs to flash mem yet but i will soon

when you install updates i think you have to do the shift thing too but like i said i haven't really been doing that, i just get to work haha

actually, i can't tell you whether or not JJos does this for both L and R fields or just the visible field in a stereo sample (cuz of course the mpc only shows either L or R in trim)

i'll ask. if it's not currently in to find crosspoint at both L and R, i'll request it.

I've just downloaded os2xl like a geek. Is that normal that the number of the midi assignment is 36-99 instead of 35-98 in os1 and regular os2? It's annoying for my drums programs in my s950.

downloaded it & using it as i type. just wanted to say...

holy sh!t is that ARPGITR completely INSANE with one shot drum hits !!!

example: make a sequence like normal, then while it plays go into ARPGITR mode & hold down a few pads & play with the QLINKS while your sequence plays.

...and all that chaos gets recorded right into the sequence if you want. daaaamn....

also- the filter capabilities of this OS are pretty intense! i'm already getting a lot more extreme sounds & frequencies then i was capable of in OS 2.
