Have you tried using the Audio tracks? I find them quite similar to the direct recording feature in the Akai OS. They're also pretty cool for resampling when you set the input to "internal".

So what are the differences between direct recording and audio tracks?

Thanks a lot roxstar for adding that! I had the mp60, mp2000, 2000xl, never had the mp3k or 4k but i used the 4k a lot.. i'v been looking for that option 4ever... An option to delete the unused sounds/samples from a sequence after you done with your project would be nice... So when you save ur project it only save the sound that was used on the song. for those of you who doesnt see were we coming from, i can tell you a lot of reason why that option would be nice.. If JJ wanna know what to make it look like, i have a map and graphic details on how he can make the screen look.. if he can add a video game on the 2500 , he should be able to make a graphic screen that shows you the bank you on and the 16 pads on that bank, with detail as falow.. blank pads=nothin on pad, sound name on pads that have sounds and tell you if pad used or unused.. and a option at the bottom f1 or something like that to delete unused sounds... Thats it for now.. iv been a member of this website for years but never post a thing, i had to cosign on that...

the os does that already - unless i'm missing your point, in program window, the purge button removes samples not included in any programs from memory. also so if you remove unused programs, then hit purge youll only have whats INCLUDED, all thats not, gets removed.

Yeah, but it´s not the same to delete sounds that are not included on any program than delete the sounds that you dont use in any of the sequences (even if they are assigned to a program)

Please make an option to use original track mute screen. I get so confused of this screen now. Its a showstopper.

I may have missed someone else mentioning this, but I think it would be useful to have a Track Volume fader on the MIXING screen. For those of us who use multiple velocity layers, quickly turning a track's volume down with velocity can ^&** things up.
