here's something murai wanted me to pass along:

optional use of os2 and os1 for those who go straight from the akai os to os2xl was not originally planned, but it was decided to be made possible. (it is my guess that the plan to go 2xl only was in order to prevent the compatibility issues which are impossible to avoid otherwise. it is likely that all new users will use os2xl by default now, just because it's the latest/currently supported os)

also, the EQ options of the filters in os2xl that exist in the 1000 XL os are not in the 2500 os because they cause the machine to "Reboot."

^ because os2 doesn't have quantize strength and i preferred to cut back my sequencing time by many percents

as for eqh/l, no idea, it wasn't explained any more clearly than that.

truthfully though, EQH and EQL is what's referred to as a "kludge"
it's a very broad, imprecise bump in eq that in every case would be better done with assignable outs + eq in daw or by the EQ in FX mode. you can, of course, sweep it with qlink, but (to me at least) it's close to the bottom as far as important additions to xl goes

Does the MAIN screen look different from OS2? Just asking because I dont like how OS1 is laid out.

neither do i, not compared to os2's main screen. i definitely appreciate the grid, not so much to use as a grid edit but more as just a sense of where in the sequence i am lookin at

2xl's main screen looks almost identical to os2's but there's qlink assignment from the main screen, track velocity, and custom midi output device naming.
