Perhaps when OS2 is actually complete, you will change your mind. We all got several pleasant unexpected additions to OS1 even after JJ said THE ADDITION OF FUNCTIONS IS NO MORE.... Or however he put it.
yes!... alternate loop, bit reduction are just a couple!
also.. i got my sisters kid the closest thing to an mpc i could find for christmas:it cost £23 and is called "dj mixer" for ages 3 and up. 8 pads with drum sounds, a scratch disc thing and a little keyboard all rolled in one*. I was accused of "buying it for myself" which was kind of true, but the kid cant put it down. He's definitetly more into the beats than i was at two and a half!
*and can jj do a new operating system for this please?

Ive never dreamt about portamento.... i did dream that i found a mini moog and an sp1200 in a junk shop, 50 quid ($100) for the both of em! unfortunately it wasn't true... at first i awoke feeling elated and very soon after deflated...
i also dreamt jimi hendrix taught me how to play guitar...and that also wasn't true... never mind at least i have jj portamento to look forward to![/i]

The portamento is neeeeece.
It's nice to be able to look forward to new stuff all the time without having to buy a new machine. I know AKAI had to make it in the first place but JJ sold the 1000 to me single handedly. Without him I would have never bought it...
I just wonder how much more JJ can fit into this machine anymore before he runs out of space/has to make harsh sacrifices? Anybody got any idea what more is possible?

its reassuring to see file sizes already above the OS1 limit of 895k.I think OS2 is stored in that bit where all the wack factory sounds used to be....
Can i uninstall OS2 and get the akai presets back in there.....ha yeah right!

Yes, you are right it's 923kb or so, I noticed that too today installing 2 .81.
Maybe that's why we need OS1 to run as well?

if he is using the internal flash ram for OS2 that means he's got about 5mb to play with ... if i'm not mistaken
cheers

....loading the the presets from the compact flash just doesn't give the
"authentic" sound it does from the internal memory.... theres a subtle difference in the overwhelming wackness that i miss.
