Transition to JJ

Hey JJ-ers~

Like many on here, I'm considering the switch to the JJ (mainly for the auto-chop). I've read up on it a little, checked out the OS comparison charts, etc., but would appreciate some first hand accounts from folks who have made the transition. Also, I have a couple questions maybe y'all can help me out with:


-can I transition without being concerned for the contents of my 120GB HD?

-how clean & reliable is the auto-chop?

-what else can be said about JJ to sell me on it / convince me that it is right for me?

1.yes. your hd won't be wiped by installing the os BUT you are recommended to back up your hd or flash card and then format them to get rid of the akai folder bugs.

2.auto chop is very good with samples with clean transients (e.g. drum loops) some manual chopping/editing is needed for more complex material..as it would be with software too.
manual chopping or editing though is a breeze...the best ive ever used. personally i would choose it over software anyday. Also mpc-tutor posted in the 1000 thread that the akai v2.12 auto chop takes ages..not so with the jj chopping.

3. my personal faves for os1 are alt loop and simult pad functions. very useful for sample chopping and layering. theres many others too. you can try 4.99 out without paying, it functions fully apart from not being able to save your work.
