undocumented JJ OS feature? triple stop

is this new or an old akai feature lurking in the code?
i stumbled across this recently and don't recall it ever being mentioned anywhere.

1. load up a long sample & assign it to a pad
2. make sure your program is set to POLY
3. hit the pad a bunch of times so that you get the sample sounding multiple times overlapping itself. really max out the voice monitor!
4. press the STOP button 3 times in rapid succession. like triple-clicking a mouse.

all voices immediately stop!

this works whether the sequencer is running or not. it's like a panic switch that immediately cuts off anything that is currently playing. i've found it to be very useful.

this is in OS 2. i haven't tried it in OS 1 yet.
apologies if people already knew about this.

Nothing new or secret about this option.... I do not remember how I figured this out... But I have been doing it since day 1... It is in all OS's...

this is also on the 4000 you can do something similar on the 2000 by hitting shift + program,
then main screen to stop a long voice.

correct me if i'm wrong but i think this has always been possible, even with the akai os!

Well there is even a better way than doing to tripple hit on the stop button

Just hit the locate arrow button in either direction once and everything will be stopped, if the sequence was playing then of course push stop once then locate arrow once

I remember it was possible on akai 2.10. I dunno about older versions.

3x stop sends out a "all notes off" message on all midi channels, too.

It has been a feature since day 1, and I believe it is in the Akai manual. Not sure about the JJ documentation.

Exactly; it's part of the AKAI documentation (somewhere). That's why I didn't mention it in my documentation. And I don't think it's in JJ's own either. Plus this is something everybody will find out accidentally as soon as they start beating on the little button to stop all the crappy noise coming out the machine, if poly/mono settings are wrong. Well, at leaast that's how I found out abput it

yes, thanks for the tip cyklops, i use the triple stop quite a lot but will definitely have to give this new method a go, sounds heaps quicker.

sweet i never used it, i always just flicked into the sampling screen & back

also while the sequence is playing and you auditioning sounds from the pads you can hit locate forward or back to cancel that pad sound, if it was a long sound/loop.

Is it possible on the 1000 with JJ and Akai os to mute a certain sound imidiately in the track mute screen without using the stop? During a live performance I sometimes make the mistake to unmute a sound of the wrong song.

yeh open window in the track mute screen i believe. and set to immediate
