MPCTool - Utility for creating .PRG files (JJ OS/MPD16)

Hi people,

I knocked up a little utility for myself last night and thought I'd share it with you guys.

Basically, what it does is create .MPD (for MPD-16) and .PRG files (for MPCs running JJOS) but whats useful is it can assign either chromatically or using a scale starting from the note number you specify, allowing you to play MIDI notes using the MPC/MPD more melodically (as it misses out the notes you dont need)

i'd love to see it become something to more easily make jjos2 INST pgms (as of now, it's limited to DRUM pgms, yes?)

this is very, very handy.

I'll probably be adding more scales and support for JJOS v1 / AkaiOS soon. Maybe INST programs too, tho as this is really desgned for use with external MIDI devices/controlling laptop stuff so I dont really see why you you need INST progs? Or do you mean make it a 'proper' editor for making INST progs (assigning samples/setting params etc)?

No chance of a java port, I'm afraid. But I can give you mac-owners the next-best thing...

This update adds a menu option "Edit JJOS v2 .PGM" which allows you to edit the mapping of midi notes to the MPC pads in JJOSv2, something that you cannot do using the current JJOS frontend on the MPC. I added this functionality after reading this thread : viewtopic.php?f=25&t=104817

Usage :

After you click on the "Edit JJOS v2 .PGM" option you will be prompted to open a JJOS .PGM file. Once opened, you will see a list of midi notes and the pads that they are currently mapped to (1-64, #64 being pad 16 on Bank 4).

You can double-click (or hit the enter key) when a midi note # is selected to edit the pad it is mapped to.

Once finished editing, hit 'OK' and the changes will be saved back to your .PGM file.

D'oh! Forgot to mention - this new function (like the rest of the program) only works with DRUM programs, not INST. I may update it to work with INSTs soon tho.

So how do i get this to work? do i need to use bluebox?
