no slice function

i just bought a mpc 1000 second hand it dose not have a slice function on it i cant find slice function mentioned in the manual it came with was wondering if my problem might be solved if i instald new os

First, look at the top section and get to reading everything you can.

Second, get the manual from Akai Pro.

Third, read some more.

Fourth, if your still not sure, throw the machine to the curb. You don't deserve it.

Well, first I'd figure out which OS version is installed

MODE + PAD 10 (Other) > F1 (GLOBAL):

If it says: OS 1.x (of course, without saying "JJ" in front of it), then it's an old AKAI OS... and as far as I can remember, that doesn't have the slice function.

Your Options now are as following: either update to AKAI OS v. 2.11 or install JJ OS. I advice the latter. Check the stickies on the JJ OS board here to find all the info: JJ-OS Resources; JJ-OS Faq and JJ-OS manual (.pdf) for the JJ-OS.
