Does anyone know why No JJ for 500? JJ interview ?

Hello, does anyone know why there is no JJos for the other MPC's like the 500 for instance ?
Another forum member said that there might have been an interview posted here with JJ where he mentioned that he would not do one for the 500. I tried to find it via the search function but could not locate it.

If anything, my guess is a new OS would be made for one of the older mpc's...2000xl or something before one is done for the 500. But I don't think either will happen

I'm sure I read before its because the flash memory (where the code is stored) is too small to hold JJOS on the mpc500.

What size is the internal flash on the 1000/2500 ? The 500 is 5 megs I believe.

The reason there isn't any JJ OS for the 500 is because that unit uses a different programming to make the os and JJ wasnt part of the programming for that OS. Same thing for the 5000. only the 1000 and the 2500 use the same programming language.

BTW: Do you or anyone else know why no one else has hacked an Akai OS ?
You see cracked PC programs and VG consoles all the time, but no one other than JJ has manipulated the MPC's programming.
Is the Akai OS protected or encrypted somehow ?

Its encrypted and you would have to know what program was used to develop the OS. Beside it would take a while to crack an encryption. jj was a programmer for Akai and he helped developed the 1000 and 2500 OS. So He knew the ins and outs of the OS.

i would venture to say that "the creator" had the source code. and didnt have to get past any encryption to build the os. and encryption is mainly the only thing stopping someone else from decompiling the os and rewriting it. the only way a new os will be dev'd for the other mpc's is if akai releases the source for the os. and that wont happen because this will breathe serious new life into the older products and slow down the sales on the new units. its all about sales.
