INPUT THRU!!!

ive been takin the time to figure out the features on that 1k instead of using it like a xl. first off the lfo is amazing (so far). u can tweak the **** out of sounds and make certain shit stand out that wasnt heard before (shout out to nym for pointing that out and making me curious ). but the sh!t that killed me was the input thru. i seen the input func in the mixer section and i knew the 2500 had that, but not the 1k. i copped a lil mixer when i got it and didnt even needed (good purchase though) and u can filter wit efx. u cant sample but it still gives u a head start on how u wanna flip a gem. that 1k has everything that i felt like i was missing wit the xl.

yeah man i take INPUT THRU for granted. i love it. very useful for saving yourself some outputs.

Can someone please explain how the LFO works in layman terms? I'm not getting it.

and what exactly are you guys talking about with regards to INPUT THRU? How does it help you with getting a head start? yes i'm a newbie, but would love to learn from ya'll.....explanation would be greatly appreciated.

when i first got the 1g and a keyboard i went and got a lil mixer thinkin i needed it to output the 2 machines. but wit the 1g (and the 2500) u can use the sample in inputs as a mixer input so u can listen to anything with a output (keyboard, turntable, etc)while playin the mpc so u dont need a mixer unless u need more than that input. u can even filter and add efx to the sound coming into the sample in. u can basically tweak sh!t to get an idea for what u want to do once its sampled but u cant sample using input thru. thats the only con that i can see.

I love that shit. I gotta a crappy dj mixer for 20 bucks at a pawn shop. each channel has a 2 line and 2 phono inputs and you can switch btw the two. I've got two synths running into that and the out going into the 1k. when i want to sample i just flip one of the channels to phono and bam, there I am. Really great call from akai on that, if some other things are somewhat lacking.
