it says arp because it's determining how 'arpeggiated' the chord is
you'll notice the lower the value to less time in between the notes of the chord
the main point is to add realism, to make it sound as if someone were striking the individual keys on keyboard rather than hitting each note at the EXACT same time
arpeggio isn't just a synthesizer term. an arpeggio means playing the individual notes in a chord one by one
you saw him selecting the chord from the other screen field.
don't think of it as an arpeggiator. think of it more as a 'humanizing' value to a chord that would sound very robotic by default. ideally you would want the value set very low, but not quite at 0 so that the chord sounds cohesive but the individual notes are very subtly staggered

my hope is that there will be custom chord programming. seventh chords, inversion, etc. not just a list of major and minor chords which is what I saw in the video
really I just want to be able to assign whatever notes I want to a pad
the chord learning feature of the Korg M3 would be nice as well, it allows you to select a pad, play a chord on a keyboard, and then assign the notes you played to that pad
the video showed all major triads (the upper case M next to the chord values being changed) I'm assuming that M field will be able to be changed to minor as well. Hopefully diminished and augmented chords will be included too, but really with a quick lesson in theory you can be making whatever chord you want in less than 10 minutes of reading and practice. it's simply a matter of counting half-steps
so custom chords, inversions, and the like will be the main thing I will be looking for. I know that I've wanted chord pads in the past, but what the video shows seems like more of a gimmick than a truly useful tool, so I am hoping that the features of these chord pads will be a bit more robust
for this to be truly useful then I would like it to be able to be programmed to play chords that may actually be difficult to play by hand. not just simple major and minor triads
I suppose the limited functionality of what was shown in the video is at least useful for those without midi keyboards but building chords is the easy part, it's actually playing them that can sometimes be difficult so I'm not completely sold yet on this feature.
