Does anyone know if these features are going to be completely removed and never come back?

There is not Q-REAL of a grid.
There is no mixer automation.
Q- Link can be set only to an active track. (It cannot be set as a pad)
There is not "Extra Audio Play".

It would be a shame to lose Mixer Automation....

i think mixer automation ceased to exist after os1, no? i haven't used it in a long time. a year and a half ago i opted not use it anymore in favor of doing level fades/panfades etc in DAW because it's got a higher resolution/easier to edit.

qreal of grid was way clumsy compared to cc grid edit
extra audio play was cool but i never used it really
qlink to active track only is interesting, i imagine some will be bummed out. it doesn't matter for INST pgms at all, but for drum programs i could see just dropping the specified pad to another track and doing it that way. most often, qlinks are applied to the entire track anyway, especially realtime.

ain't too worried. whenever new os's drop there's always a worry about the give and take. it always turns out that there's a way to do the same thing just in a different way. for instance, cc 72 = filter cutoff, so you can still use a graphical qlink edit of sorts.

I have a 4000 that I use Mixer Automation in my Studio use, but I was thinking about getting a 1000 for Live use. And I use mixer automation
all the time on the 4000, by taking very complex pattern and mixing in and out different volume changes and fx sends to create a number
of different types of sequences, all varying the groove depending on what and when you are dong the FX sends and Volume Fades.
I guess they'll be no quick fader slides up for sounds going into a delay to get a quick stab and echo, ala Basic Channel and being
able to save that movement.

Hmm.. Seems like such a basic feature to have on a sequencer based machine. Plus it leaves those of us who choose not to use computers with not a lot of options. Good thing the 1000 is just going to take over live capabilities and not Studio use.

yeah that's definitely DAW work for me, i'd feel pretty cramped trying to do that in my mpc while writing tunes. that's the kind of stuff i greatly prefer to do once everything is tracked out.

this says something about this day and age, i guess. i use the mpc just to mostly slam down midi. often i write songs and have tracks where i auralize them fading in/out as they play over the course of the sequence. then when i track out, i actually apply the fade i'd been picturing the whole time. this is demonstrative of how purely compositional i view my songs in the mpc.

imagine how difficult this makes showing songs in progress to folks who don't have the patience/attention span: "ok now picture this melody fading in here" hahahah

realtime track LEVEL is something i wouldn't mind requesting. i don't even care if it has anything to do with the mixer. in fact, cc 7 VOLUME could conceivably only apply to tracks that are TRACK specific rather than PGM specific (this might sound strange - it's part of the track mixer specification in os2)

this would be a potentially nice way to sidestep the issue of PGM/TRACK overlap when it comes to mixer automation - have CC 7 VOLUME only apply to TRACK tracks in the track mixer.

I'm a little concerned about losing track automation... If we can load sequences from V2XL back into V2 and add automation there, that would be perfect. I realize that this new sequence would not be readable in the XL version, but that would be fine.

Also, pardon my ignorance, but what else exactly would be removed? What exactly is EXTRA audio play?

no big deal.

i'm not sure i understand this. what's going to happen to Q-REAL TUNE, CUTOFF, RESONANCE, LEVEL, & PAN? is he going to put that in the MIDI edit with PITCH BEND, CC's, etc? either way, this cannot be removed. he's got to keep that data in there somewhere... recordable & editable.

There is no mixer automation.

now this is a problem. he can't pull the mixer automation. especially LEVEL & FX SEND. this is some pretty basic stuff. renegadebliss hit the nail right on the head when he described some creative uses of this feature.

Thx Nym!!!!

Also now that you have the Beta, start a new thread detailing the new Chord implementation please :)

sorry. OS 2xl is far more important than work/life stuff.

but the elementary school is about to go on holiday so i'm gonna have loads of time to work on it.

why not just bring your MPC to the school & work on it there? can't you just give the kids some sleeping pills in their kool-aid or something? keep em' nice & quiet while you check out the OS.

Or let them play with it. I know my daughter loves to beat up my MPC and pull the knobs off. :)
