if you have an interface that lets you utilize all 6 outs, then you have found that when you track out of the stereo outs, you have to go to every other track that you not recording and either mute them or turn down the pads that you are not recording. not impossible to do, but ive found that it kills my workflow.

i was thinking that if you were tracking, you set tracks 1-4 to outputs 1-4 mono. then tracks 5 and 6 to l and r. when you set sounds to l and r or even lr, it automatically mutes all of the tracks set to st.

is this a possibility or impossible?

thx

way to read the post.

i asked if jj could implement some code or whatever that when you set a pad/program to l or r or lr it could automatically mute all pads set to st instead of having to go to all other tracks and mute the pads that you dont want to record out of the stereo outs. that does not happen.

the post was only 5 lines man. reread it.

hey, i know it sux but you gotta bite the bullet when you tracking stuff out. it takes a min! :D

I think it is a good idea, and people never read whole posts on here. :?
I personally haven't tried the 6 out function yet. I need to though soon, because I have 30 beats to track out I made last week. LOL. I think this is a decent feature request idea though.

NEXT!

that was what this thread needed. thanks for the input.

i am and have been biting the bullet for a couple of years. i just thought maybe some cats have run into this same issue and would like to see that feature. i am still on jjos 1, but if they couldnt implement itnto 1, that would be reason enough to move to 2 or xl.

definitly try it. its 3 stereo tracks vs 2, or 6 mono vs 4. its great. just the issue i mentioned really slows down the workflow.

30 beats in 1 week! you are a master! haha

This is another case of why JJ has trouble with features and functions, people word things in ways that will typically be hard for him to comprehend with the language barrier.
Somewhat like when i was trying to explain what was wrong with the SEQ Lopp way back when i had a 2500.

You don't want what you are asking for it just has too many potential problems.
What you should be asking for is multi-SOLO's like you can do on a DAW.
You could then just SHIFT + SOLO the tracks you want to track out.

no, thats not really what i want. what i want is when you select to send audio out of either the left or right or both of the stereo outputs, any pad that is set to ST will be deactivated. if i wanted to do a multiple mute, i could use the track mute screen.

i dont see how this would cause more problems. i can see that it may not be possible because you would have to tell the machine to deactivate the pads set to ST. thats probably not possible. i dont know, im not a programmer or a electronics engineer.

i was asking if it were possible. ive seen worse and more far fetched feature requests out there. this to me would greatly help workflow, if people have the ability to track 6 at a time.

my only other option for this would be to move on to a 2500, which i dont really want to do since im more than satisfied with the 1k. i just want to use the stereo outputs to track and the fact that everything is set to run out of those outputs is kind of irritating. thats it.

i honestly dont expect to see it happen...

Forax wrote:why don't you keep everything set to the stereo outs and run the stuff you want to track to outputs 1 & 2 which are hooked up to your recorder

i do keep everything set to the stereo outs as i build a track up. but when its time to mix it, i record each individual track to the daw. i do run the sounds out 1 & 2, and 3 & 4, and L & R. but when you set pad a1 of xyz program to L and pad a2 of xyz program to R, and go to track it, everything that is not set to 1,2,3, or 4 will play through L & R (the stereo outputs). so you have to go to every program that is being used and go to gpe, hit whole, hit out, scroll to level and turn the jogwheel to 0. if L & R deactivated ST, it would happen automatically. try it and you will see.

Why not assign things to various tracks and Mute or Solo to have things play as needed using the track output routing instead of routing the pads from inside the pgm?

OK here's what I mean.
Use the new mixer aspect and just create different pgm's and assign them to various outs.
It will allow you to mute tracks because each track represents a different pgm.

set pad a1 of xyz program to L and pad a2 of xyz program to R,

instead you would have xyz_1 set to L and xyz_2 set to R, but they would be on different seq tracks so you can Mute them for tracking and route them from JJ's new mixer set up to the various outs.
***you could also do it with the same pgm on different tracks with different track output routing***

because soloing only allows one track to play at a time. if i have the kick on track 1, snare on track 2, hats on track 3, 3 different tracks, and all in stereo (just for example) but they are all on the same program, i would only be able to play 1 at a time.

plus i sequence all of my songs in song mode, so if i have 12 sequences, i would have to go to 12 sequences and mute all of the tracks that were not being recorded at that time. then after that first pass is completed, i would have to go back to all 12 sequences, mute the tracks that i just recorded, and unmute the next set. again, its not impossible to do, but it is counterproductive.

what new mixer aspect. i said above that i am still on jjos 1. unless i completley missed something.

what if i dont want an entire program set to 1 output (or set of outputs)? or are you talking about making a duplicate program? which is ok i guess. it seems to be a little counter productive too. with this workaround, you now have to go through the steps of transfering the track data to a new track as well as making a new program. so if i had 12 tracks, i now would have 24 and double the # of programs. it would work, but i probably wouldnt do this because i can foresee it getting even more messy than it already is! lol. again, i dont have a new mixer setup.

***you could also do it with the same pgm on different tracks with different track output routing***

not really. if i set a pad to output 1 in program xyz, track 1, that pad will be set to the same output through every track/sequence, unless i misunderstood what you were saying.

***i **** the quotes up. sorry.

No you would not set the Pad to anything, you would set the Track to an output.
You would use the Track setting instead of the Program setting for mixer routing.

This allows you to route a track to an output the same way you would do a Pad.

what os are you talking about? i cannot set a track to an output, only pads. i am using os 1.
