Is transfer speed always slow from computer to internal HD on the MPC?

I'm transfering 4.5 GB and it's been going on for two hours, might be finished in two and a half.
That's really slow compared to what's normal via USB2.

I believe I've read about this somewhere and it's the MPC-hardware so I can't do anything to improve it, just want to be sure.

I'm on a Mac Book Pro 2.2 GHz.
No usb hub.
MPC1000 JJ OS 1.22.

usb to mpc is notoriously slow.

i use a usb/CF card reader, its way faster, but i dont use any hard drive in my mpc.

USB1!!??
That's extremely vintage.
But of course, that explains it all.

Is there some way in the MPC to transfer files from CF to Internal Harddrive?
Without loading/saving every file that is.
That could maybe be a faster way....

for 4Gb, i bet its quicker to whip the HD out of the mpc, and snap it into an external drive usb2 or firewire enclosure.

dump all the stuff, then put it back in the empee

Honestly it is quicker to just rip out the HD. Thats why I back up once a month, id rather have the MPC down 20 min than 13 days 4 hours 5 minutes and 31 seconds
