Having trouble formating hard drive

I just got the adapter and installed a hard drive into my Mp. I'm running JJ2XL. When I'm in the load mode, I cant switch it to Hard Drive to format. If I move the jog wheel, it shows "wait" but just for a second and it stays on CF card. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks in advance.
My Mp is almost complete! So close...
