Hi, I use JJOS 2 on the mpc1000.

When I load a folder of samples, for example a Drum Machine Folder with about 40 Drum Samples,
I want to have all of them assigned to pads in a new programm on load. But it does not work. I always have to assign every drumsample of the folder manually to the pads one after one instead of getting them automatically loaded to the pads. I've read, that pad to window assign must be "on" for automatic assign, and hey, it is "on".

What do I wrong?

No automatic assignement to pads in JJOS? I have to do this manually for all banks via scrolling through all samples everytime? Hand already hurts from the wheel. I can't believe it. I don't wanna use the pc for such a basic thing.

If you think about it from a realistic point of view there is no reason why you would want it to do that for you.
If you took BlueBox or the MPC Editor and let it auto assign the samples for you and you'll see auto assigning samples is not a good thing per say.
The reason being it's a pretty random method and you would end up with your samples assigned but not in a functional or or logical way.

If you could arrange them in the folder to determine the order they would be assigned then it would be ok, but a random arrangement would be no fun.

Personally I rarely have a kit that goes off the first bank and that has been the case with every MPC ( I have now owned them all) as well as the MV.
The SP was the only box that the samples extended to multiple banks.
I tend to just build a kit per project and keep it moving.

Mpc Editorhas auto and manual assign, it lets you drag and drop samples onto the pads where you want them to show up on your mpc pads. I don't know about bluebox, never used that before.

The auto assign function is when you select a location and the editor takes all the samples from that location and puts them on the pads for you.
Both the Editor and BlueBox have this function.
For him to manually drop and drag them would be no different than doing it manually in the 1k and that's what he didn't want to do.
Because of how differnet the JJ OS is to the Akai OS creating programs in the 1k is easier than creating them with either of those programs.
The reason being you will still have to do a lot of editing in the 1k for the parameters that the software doesn't address.
Just seems to work easier doing it in the 1k in thre first place.

If that's the case, then I agree.

did not wanna start a new top, so I revived this one.

Did the situation change since? Is there a way to auto-assign a folder of samples to the pads in 2XL 3.18?

2 the original poster... (and anyone who want's to think utilize this)

I have a work around solution but it does require prep work.
One could use GPE to do the assignment work for you but you must name or rename samples so GPE can use it's Autoset feature. This solves the problem of randomness and even allows one to put they're drumkit parts in the same place each time.

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2 ... sample.htm

1) Name samples so that they end with a note or number assignment.
2) Use the "Autoset" feature on non overlap.
3) Change PGM back into a "Drum" PGM.
4) Enjoy

I tried this method and it did not work:

First I tried with four samples named sample01, ..02, 03, 04.
I set the the sample for pad 01 to sample01 then press autoset and nothing happens.

Second time I tried this method with 35 audio samples named Rmx_snare_01, 02, 03.... 35.
I set the first sample to Rmx_snare_01, press autoset and the mpc assigns samples Rmx_snare_21 till _35, the rest of the samples get ignored.
