Changing the pitchbend range of mpc sample programs in JJOS

Hi. I've noticed my MPC w/JJOS1 responds to pitch bend when playing MPC drum programs via MIDI keyboard. However, when I move the pitch wheel up or down, I've noticed the pitch will change up to +12 or -12 semitones respectively. I've been looking at the JJOS manual as well as researching to see if there's a way to change the pitch bend range to whatever I want it to be (relative to sample programs). There doesn't seem to be any screen or parameter in the OS that would allow me to do this. I hope the range is not just fixed on +/- 12 semitones (+/- 1 octave). So here's my question.

don't think so. why not just adjust the range on your midi keyboard?

i recommend using the JS effect "pitchwheel control center" which allows you to set a high limit and a low limit for the outgoing pitch data from a midi controller.

js effects are reaper only but you might be able to find a JS=>VST wrapper if you look hard enough.

i have this set up in energyXT so that 2 faders from one midi controller allow me to set the hi/low range of the pitch bend wheel on another midi controller.

I can set the range on my keyboard. As a matter or fact, it's set to 2, which is the default. I have no problem "sending the pitchbend range setting to my MPC" or controlling other external MIDI instruments and changing their pitch bend settings. However, no matter what my MIDI controller I use or what it is set to, the sample programs inside the MPC will always respond to pitchbend as +/-12. What I'm having problems with is the pitchbend range of the internal samples within the MPC, not sending pitchbend to other external MIDI instruments.

For example, if I I'm using my MIDI keyboard to control another MIDI instrument, through the MPC and want to effect the pitchbend settings of that other external MIDI instrument, I'll have no problems with that as my external MIDI instrument will respond to either whatever pitchbend setting my keyboard is set to, or the pitchbend range setting within that instrument, even through the MPC.

However, if I use a synth sample as part of a MPC sample program and I want to manipulate the pitchbend range, I don't think there's a way to do that. That's where I have problems. You see, if the pitchbend setting on my keyboard is set to +/-1, 2, or whatever I want it to be, my MPC sample programs will always respond to pitchbend with a range of +/- 12, regardless of what my keyboard is set to. The internal MPC sample programs simply ignores my keyboard or any other external MIDI pitchbend range setting and always respond with a range of +/- 12. This is definitely internal within the MPC OS and there's no window or screen that I can go to and adjust the pitchbend range parameter specifically for the internal sample programs. It would be nice if I could do this. Maybe JJ should add this as an additional feature (at least in OS2 or OS2XL of nothing else), which very basic and usually available in pretty much every professional keyboard or synth-based sampler. All rackmount synth samplers can do this.

edited for additional humor. nanoloop you're a cool and insightful dude, i just wanted to say that nothing in my setup is less buggy than my computer -- including my budget ass 1200, whose rca cables are literally twist tied together.

Oh yeah, I appreciate the Reaper computer plugin tip, Nym. However, that won't resolve the problem because it resides internally within the MPC's OS and only effects MPC sample programs, not external MIDI data transmitted or received.

not sure i understand quite why this wouldn't help you, but good luck trying to find a solution. for the record, i think incoming PITCHBEND range specified BY PROGRAM would be a sweet addition, although i have a working solution. i requested this back in os1 but was told that it'd be a problem.
