2500 and ableton 7

anyone got any tips for this setup?

i've been using ableton and the MPC for years but not together.

i'm starting a new live project with a friend, MPC + MPD + 2 laptops running ableton [sync'd]

this allows you to keep the laptop or mpc going and being able to stop and start the slave machine to load new pgm or project and be back in sync with the touch of that big red button.

that does look pretty sweet but will it sync both laptops and the mpc?

also how can i built up seqences live on the fly.

like say i have an empty 16 bar sequence playing sync'd to ableton.

i want to start building up a beat while still playing.

don't want to hit it in on the pads i want to manually programme it building it up bit by bit and tweaking it .?

anyone?

Without hitting the pads? Not possible, there´s other gear for that.

so you can't build up sequences without hitting the pads?
so that means i can't make anything on the fly then?

whats stopping u hitting the pads on the fly?

u could unmute tracks by using the "mute" button, no pads in that method, heheh u allergic to grey rubber?

no i want to build them up on the fly bit by bit.
i don't want to hit the pads cause
A it'll trigger the sound
B if i don't hit it in it time it'll sound rubbish if it's live

i want to programme live

os 2 has mode in the grid edit screen which turns the pads into 16 steps of a sequencer. you highlight the pad you want to program with the cursor and then tap the pads to draw in the beats. pad 1=beat 1 pad 5= beat2 etc. you wont hear the sounds until theyre triggered from the sequence itself.

i'll have a play this eve

it ll only loop around 1 bar at a time though before you get too hopeful!
you can then use the bar locate keys to flick to other bars.

DUNK, MIKOLO - beware, it often loses time in the flow of the metronome, stepping into the patterns ok, but exiting can cause embarrassing time shifts, *which really need to be addressed for this to be a seamless sounding -on-the-go method.

btw, surely u would want to hear what u are doing is right before it goes to loop live - just to be sure it doesnt sound bad ?
