GRID EDIT JJOS2XL

How do I move my drums like 1 step in the grid edit?
I've never used this ever. I always did this with the step editor.

Could anyone please help me with this, because i can't move anything in the grid view.

I would tell you to read JJ's manual, but I think that only covers how to "nudge" a note. As far as I know, there is no way to move a note a full "step."

What you do is delete the note, and then create a new note on the next step over. Grid Masters, correct me if I'm wrong...

nudge or delete/rerecord. odds are the latter is the fastest, depending on how quick you are with your <, >, erase and overdub keys

GRID is still not really useful yet.
Unfortunately the interface and screen hinder much of it's potential.

just hit overdub and put the cursor on the actual grid and with the jogwheel just put the cursor where you want and hit the pad.

gotta disagree pretty strongly there, i find both MIDI and (as of os2xl 1.06) DRUM grid edit to be very useful. i've done better drum programming in 1.08/09 than ever prior, entirely due to DRUM grid edit's workflow. i still don't like how events delete in TC-sized "blocks" but because of quantize strength i don't have to do much deleting/editing

Co-sign. I'm just getting into these modes, and already find them very useful.

Use the GRID on the MV, 4k or 5k and you'll change your mind.
The GRID is still too lacking and with the screen size and method required to navigate it a tough fix.

still have to disagree that it's useless or even slightly uncomfortable. navigation is SO easy.

maybe if you're going from a larger size to a smaller size you'll have a problem (even though i came from Reason's ungodly massive grid edit) but i have zero problem with it. it beats the christ out of using the step editor.

Actually it is worth mentioning, since that's where improvements come from.
Can't lose site of that.

The three things I see needing the the most work on the JJ OS are ther ARP, CHORD and GRID.
They all have that ok but in need of work to be comparable to what other devices offer.

Who knows maybe it would help if JJ spun some time with some other units to get a better perspective of why certain things enhance workflow and others hinder it?

But exactly how do I do it?

- I select the note in the Grid View
- Then press overdub
And then what?

I'm really appreciative of any help.
