Forum to discuss all matters relating to the MPC1000 and MPC2500 operating systems created by 'JJ' (all versions).

I just updated from 1.06 and now the loop offset which I found very useful and just started to use extensively for live situations (makes it a lot easier to make transitions) is gone!

Things come and go in and out of this OS all the time.
I think that's extremely problematic.

I wouldn't want to update anymore if it weren't for the actual bug fixes.
I believe 1.06 is too buggy to remain at and at the same time if I upgrade I will lose a feature which I thought was a main part of XL.

I need a consistent OS which is stable in every sense of the word.

In addition I find all these attempts to convert the MPC into a harddisk recorder being completely incomprehensible. It's just a waste of time and memory space. There's a multidude of harddisk recording solutions out there which will always be immensely superior. But there are very few hardware drums-sequencers/samplers out there. I wish JJ would concentrate on that. And maybe then, he wouldn't have to throw something useful out of the OS (because of limited memory) every time it's upgraded.

Whoops - the functionality I mentioned was not lost. Setting it up was changed which at least is a bit better. I can live with that.

However, I still feel worried that some feature I start using will be lost in another update.
This IS a problem with JJ OS.

You don't have to update with every update that the homie JJ pushes. When an update has been made, members place what the update is and what was changed inside the update. Even if you don't come here often, you can check with the [search] function.

Yet another reason to stick w/OS 2, kick back, put your feet up and stay cozy. It's cold out there.

He's already using XL so why go backward to OS2?
It would be different if he was on OS2 thinking of going to XL.

the original posters main complaint was that 2xl was still in a state of flux with bugs, features being added & changed, etc.

if that's a problem, then os 2 is the way to go - at least until 2xl has been out for much longer to a point where it is mostly bug-free and the feature-set is stable.

early adoption is for those who want to experiment and play with new features, bug-test, offer suggestions, etc.

if you're working on serious projects, live-sets, finishing up works in progress, or just need features that were killed in 2xl... then it's best to stay with the previous os.

Well he could always wait for JJ to add to OS2.
Oh wait he's finished with OS2.

XL is far from buggy it just has some changes some people dislike.

glad you're in the know. i hope you won't mind if i wait to hear that straight from JJ, tho.

i just ran into a serious xl bug this morning in grid edit. you had to put the cursor one step AHEAD of the event you wanted to edit. if you put the cursor directly on the event it wouldn't recognize it. ...not to mention all the problems with 16 levels, etc.. c'mon, just check the bug reports thread.

We all know having bugs and being buggy are two totally different things.

As you tried to joke me in another thread when I said GRID is not the answer, I'll say it again.
It still needs much to be done to it before it will be useable like other units GRID.
GRID itself is a bug to me.
