MPC 1k, OS2XL v. 1.11 DIRECTORY ERROR, the RETURN OF!!!!!!!!

OH MY GOD - I can't believe this. I hooked up my MPC to my macbook pro for the first time and tranfered a song, which I wanted to sample from. Usually I do the sample work on my computer, but I am down and low in the bedroom, just headphones, the mpc and the sample.. okay. Everything came out nice, the beat sounds bangin over the headphones already. "Okay, save it, go to be, n isht..." well well well, it turned out different. It said "Directory Error", when I wanted to save the Whole Project in a new folder of the HD. Matter of fact it said Directory Error everywhere. Even on the FlashCard and even after formatting that. So, the only thing I could do for now, was bouncing the sequence through song mode and save it as a sample. Luckily this worked. But I just can't save he pgms. At least the beat is not completely lost!

But what am I going to do about the rest? The thing is, I never experienced Diectory Errors before, because when i got my 1k in 2006, I strqight jumped on JJ-OS and formated my stuff in there. Did OSX maybe do some damage to the filestructure of the HD or something... maybe somebody has a nice tip... I leave the machine on I won't lose this beat.... and I hate recreating beats... so to all OSXL users - this could happen to you too (if it's not a problem caused by the mac..)

I dumped just some striaght samples from the PC to my hard drive and only about 3/4 of the samples actually ended up on the hard drive. I did it again and got the same results... I plan on emptying my CF card and trying to drop it onto that to see if all of my samples would come out... then try to save it to the hard drive. The samples play on my PC. I just figured there was something wrong with the hard drive, but if there is a problem with files being disrupted... This really needs to be dealt with. Stan, put up a list of actions to try to reproduce this. If I can reproduce it, then we should report it as specific as pssible. I can't test it now, but I'll test it tonight after work... Peace

this bug sounds pretty bad.

no way i'm gonna even boot into 2xl until this is resolved.

i haven't seen this problem but i hardly use 2xl. i also haven't updated to the most recent version (1.11) so maybe this is something new.

also, Stan: what version of os x are you using?

Some Analysis: Today I switched to OS 1 (4.99j) to check, if saving would work with that - no chance. So, okay, I start to think "why?"... After some time, I came up with this conclusion:

To update and create systematically ordered OS-Comparison Chart (still working on that), I switched OS'es a lot that one day: from AKAI OS 1.07, to 2.12, to OS 3.08, 4.99, 1.22, 1.11 and all the way back, to check features and differences and such and such. But I didn't load any Project or anything. My conclusion is, that somehow, any of the AKAI OS'es just wrote some DATA on the HD, that F'ed the System up or Mac OSX did some bad with it. Had never before connected it to the mac. I never had that Problem before. So now, I have to backup everything.... takes 90+ Minutes, than re-format the HD with the JJ OS and than put all the files back on to the HD, which will take 90+ minutes again... I hope everything will be aight again, after this...

i have never had that problem until i upgraded to xl 1.11. i think its the version number jinxing us all

Oh, I've overlooked that OSX stuff... I'm running 10.5 (Leopard)
