well i have been running jj os1 4.87 and decided to go ahead and update to 4.99 but before i update the os it gives a warning messege that all memory contents will be lost.. does it just mean stuff that hasnt been saved that is currnetly being worked on or does it mean everything i have i have saved in my hd will be gone?? sorry for the dumb question but not tryin to lose all my stuff.

just flashes the rom. make sure to double check the file size of your downloaded os, with the one online, to make sure the file is completly downloaded, because sometimes the download stops before reaching 100%.

Thanx for the help.. So i guess to flash the rom ihave to have a compact flash reader then huh?? since it doesnt display the card when connected to the usb on my comp, it only show the hard drive.

you should be able to toggle between the card and the hard drive. if you cant, then you might wanna check that your card slot isnt damaged. take a light and look inside to see if there are bent pins. and in the future, dont use the card for anything but OSes. use the hard disk for everything else...

Oh and btw the error reads exactly:

"This writes OS to flash memory. This proces requires system restart. All memory contents will be lost!!"

i can toggle between card and harddrive on the mpc but when i connect the usb to the comp the comp doesnt read the card only the hard drive...EDIT:NVM user error. I can toggle between the 2 so all i need to do is load it to the card instead?? dont delete the preivous os that is stored on the card first?

it doesnt matter where you put the os. you can load from the card or the drive to upgrade. if you dont have room on the card then delete the previous os

yeah.. suits me fine so far.. maybe one day ill get os2.

osxl is really gonna be something when its done. its already pretty nice with a better workflow than os1 but you know i like os1 too so take your time
