q-real pan in grid edit

I'm trying to edit the realtime pan events for a track (using MPC1000 OS2 v1.22) by pressing main twice, then shift+f1 to get to the q-real parameters. When I then try to input events using the q sliders they both range from MID to L50, and the whole R side is unavailable using the sliders. If I want to set an event to an R-value I need to edit the event using the DATA wheel.. Is there something i'm overlooking here or is this a bug? And if it's a bug, is it known & reported?

have you tried using the other q link slider?

Yup. They both go from MID to L50, no R to be found. They have the same behaviour when trying to use the Auto function. It basically means I have to set all R values by hand which is a pain in the ass.

you should report the bug to JJ.


in the meantime, since you are still in OS 2 you can record PAN automation in the MIXER.

MODE + PAD 8 -> SETUP tab -> Record mix changes: YES

...then just hit OVERDUB and tweak the sliders.

note that this function was removed from OS 2XL.

Finally got around to reporting this bug:

1. Turn the power on
2. Select a DRUM track
3. Press Main to go to Grid Edit (Drum)
4. While holding Shift key, press F1 to go to Q-Real Edit (Drum)
5. Using the Up key, move to the Q-Real Parameter position
6. Using the Data wheel, select parameter PAN
7. Press Overdub to input Q-Real data
BUG: the input range of the Q1 and Q2 sliders is limited from L50 to MID. The range should go from L50 to R50. To input R values the cursor must be moved to the EVENT field and the value must be set using the Data wheel.

I hope it's a quick fix...

It is a mistake that PAN and LEVEL exist in Q-Real.
Since the problem arose in MIXER when PAN and LEVEL existed in Q-Real, it was stopped.
It was not deleted by the programmer's mistake.
Therefore, this bug is uncorrectable.

Bummer. I guess this means it's either/or: either mixer automation or PAN & LEVEL in Q-Real. Too bad JJ's preference was for mixer automation.
