X-Fade Looping?

Can someone please to me what this is and what the benefits are?

I've been working/learning/experimenting on the MPC for about 6 months so please excuse my relative newbie-ness.

it makes for a smoother loop - loops the sample without the clicks attributed to the mpc sample looping not being sample accurate.
