Am I being blind?

Or is there only options for free or XL versions of JJOS for the MPC2500?

I have recently bought one second hand and from initially looking over the comparison chart I was going to try JJOS1 to start and see how I get along with it. It is far cheaper and seems at least a nice step in even if I do/did decide to upgrade to a higher version later. Looking at the download page for the MPC2500 and there is only Free and XL versions listed.

JJOS1 is only available for the 1k now.

Well it seems you can still install OS1 but the only licence is the XL one (I guess it unlocks the whole tier.) This means I would have to pay the highest price to use anything but the free version and it doesn't look like OS1&2 are going to get any more development on the MPC2500.


Is it REALLY worth going for the XL? Bear in mind I'm a new user and not quite got my unit yet (should have a Parcelforce slip waiting for me at home telling me to pick it up all being well )

I'd say it is worth it...

If you wanted to just try it out you can always install it and test it out, you just cannot save your work until after you install your license code.

Ahh yeah I keep on forgetting that.

If I start on the free version for a few months and decide I really want some of the features in XL with all my projects created in the free version be compliant with XL?

Just got my 2500 and had a very brief play. Am going to download and install JJOS today (most likely I'll take the jump for XL.) Was wondering how helpful the standard Akai manual is after installing JJOS. I guessing a lot of the basic operation is the same, just expanded upon right?

Cool, that's what I gathered. Tried to print off the JJOS 2 manual from work the other day but it wouldn't work. Seemed to be because I couldn't install the Japanese fonts (although looking at home and there doesn't actually seem to be any.) The pages would just turn blank. Think I'm going to have to download the fonts at home and take them in on a USB key to install to be able to print...

I take it nobody knows when a printable XL manual will be available?

There is a lot of good information about JJOS on the website too if you haven't checked that out yet.
