JJOS PW/purchase question

I feel like a jack-ass for asking such a simple question but...

I have JJOS 4.82, which was free at the time and lets me save. I downloaded 4.99J and I'm able to save my files. In the JJOS FAQ it says I shouldn't be able to save, but I can. Does that mean I can JUST purchase JJOS2XL and it will work fine? I know the only way you can get a fully working OS2XL is by downloading the paid version of OS1. This is what confuses me, let me know if I'm missing something, when I first downloaded 4.82 it was a full free working version, when a friend of mine went to DL it, he was charged. I've also downloaded OS2XL, it does ask me for a PW in save mode. Only in OS2XL it requires a PW. I hope that's clear to what's going on.

My bad if I'm wasting anyone's time and the answer is to buy both, but with the economy, haha, I would like to be sure and possibly save some money if i can.

you get your whip used yo? musta had the jj pw already. thats the only way i know of that this should work the way you describe. i would just buy xl and try it. how expensive is it? $15 or some shyt?

Yeah, sounds strange to me. Because I know almost every build of the JJ OS and there was never one, I can think of, where the save function was enabled without a password (besides the free version of course).

Yeah, it's weird yo. I think I'm just gonna take my chances and buy OS2XL. Hopefully it works. Thanks for the help!

same thing happened to me got the free one then got os1
and it had save ive since paid for os2 and xl and it all works good
so you should be ok
you just got lucky

It worked without an OS1 PW, now I gotta learn this!
