Question about sample filenames

Right I know it's best to keep them to the format 16.3 before transferring them to the MPC (or at least have those parts unique as they get chopped) but what would happen if you had two files of the same name but in different folders on your storage drive and then tried to import both into the same project? Will the MPC get confused again and think they are the same file or you you be OK as it knows they have come from different directories?

I'm thinking it's likely the former, which I can see being a royal PITA for me in the long run!

if you try to load a file and it has the same name as a file that's already in memory, whether it's the same file or a file from a different directory, it will tell you that there's already a file with that name and you'll be prompted to rename it or replace the file that's currently in memory.

Yeah that's what I figured. This is going to make it even more of a pain to have dry and wet versions of samples. I've just spent ages over the last couple of days shortening sample names so hopefully they can all load (were quite a few in sub folders that had similar names so might still have a few duplicates.)

Oh well, the joys of the MPC hey. Maybe one of these days I'll actually get the chance to try and do something creative on it...
