How is the instrument feature on OS2 & OS2XL?

I will be ordering my XL today first time buyer of the OS I have to have the ID # before I can complete my order on my MPC2500 at home.

My question how well does the instrument feature work? This is one of the main reason for the purchase.

I saw Nym video but wanted to know if I can have this span over 88 keys on my midi controller or just 64?

Also do I have to change the pitch or do I really need to have the note grid?

It spans over 6 octaves max.

it'll span over 0-127 notes if you make it (potential of a 127 key keyboard hah)
default is 36-99, just expand the range

the inst pgms are ok but if you're using the mpc with a DAW and VSTs or REASON there's not much need for them other than using them as another layer to your vsts/reason

Oh you are right, i just tested it with only one sample over the whole range, it seems that a single sample cant be pitched more than 3 octaves up or down (which kinda makes sense )

The instrument programs are easy to setup and got the portamento. Too bad they lack velocity layers and sample crossfade.

the inst pgms are ok but if you're using the mpc with a DAW and VSTs or REASON there's not much need for them other than using them as another layer to your vsts/reason

I do use Vsti's and also Reason 4, I meant with a sample note could this be done. I did see in the video you had that it sounds like it could be done.

yeah, you could just slap a sampled note and it'd stretch it - but this can potentially sound awful as any note stretched that far starts to sound like mickey mouse.

disregard the grid part I am at work and I work for a Utility company doing alot at once.
