Pad to scale?

OK, on JJxl can you assign a pitched program to the pads then set the pads to a specific scale? I have only ever used my MPC for drums and loops and never pitched stuff (aside from midi of course) but the thought occured to me that it would be cool to be able to play say a solo on the pads just whacking randomly safe in the knowledge that you won't hit a bum note I guess it would be cool for midi too.

Yes... you can do this on any MPC. You could save template programs with different note scales-- Go for it (if you don't use a keyboard).

on xl doing this with midi out will be a little harder to acheive because the midi note sent by a pad cant be saved with the program. you could probably do it in the pad default screen (mode pad 9), but keep in mind that all your pgms will send out notes according to this template.

with pgms that trigger internal sounds its just a case of altering the pad tuning in gpe to suit your needs.

if you do this and then load a sample and hit 16 levels will it do the levels according to the scale on your template?
