Do i have to record audio in order to hear my syncing??

I have my mpc 1000 midi synced(midi beat clock) to pro tools 8.Im using trilogy for my bassline with a midi channel assigned and everything.I can only hear both synced with the mpc track recordin but i wanna hear both without recording anything.Is there sumthin i need to check off in PT? I know theres a way around this.It would suck if u have actually record just to hear MPC & VST's together.

There should be an option to monitor audio on the PT channel strip. See if there is a monitor button on the channel strip in PT. See if this helps you out. http://www.sweetwater.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19672

I figured it out.I had to go to track-->input only monitoring.I had it on Auto monitoring.Thanks anyway
