Request: JJ OS XL for MPC100 Manual : $50

I would be willing to pay $50 for a PDF manual written by a person whose native language is English (I do not wish to offend anyone with this statement!)

I would like the manual to cover not only all the features of the OS but examples on how to use them. I really feel like I'm missing out on most of the features of this OS.
I bought the "Beat Making on the MPC1000" from MPC-Samples. I'd like some thing like that.

I've been all over these forums for years. I've been to JJ's site. I've read the posts. I've watched the videos. But it's so dang time consuming.

Why hasn't MPC-Samples written a manual? Is it a copyright issue with Akai?

No copyright issue. Currently finishing up the 5000 book, and will decide what book to do next. One thing that has put me off doing a book for the JJ XL is that it is aimed at the kind of MPC owners who generally don't really need tutorial books as they are very comfortable with the machine and OS. Unfortunately there's no point spending 6 months writing a book that will only sell 20 copies.

I'll re-assess things once the 5000 book is complete. We're also looking at doing video tutorials, so maybe we can fit the JJ XL into that somehow.

Thanks for the reply. I guess you are right about the JJ OS XL aimed at more advanced users. Also I have no idea what the install base for JJ OS XL is and it's still kind of in "development" mode so who knows what JJ will change next? Kind of a moving target for manual writer.

Unfortunately I don't have the time at the moment to update my manual to the latest OS XL. As of now, it just covers JJ-OS 1 and 2, but it'll help you to get along in XL for the most part. It's written by me and corrected by a native speaker, so there you go. Also, the Layout and document structure is really nice and was designed in resemblance to the original AKAI Manual, so you feel at home, once you have a look at it. Take a look at the sticky post at the beginning of this JJ OS Section call JJ OS Manual. There you'll find the linked pdf.

Just copy and paste what JJ has online, and make your own manual. Much cheaper, and create your own screen shots. I think it would be a nice lil project.

A great idea! But I really don't have the time. That is why I'd like a manual. And I'm willing to pay for it. Stan Steez has a great manual but it doesn't cover XL yet. I mentioned the money hoping to motivate either MPC-Samples or some other entrepreneur that there is at least one customer out there willing to pay good money for a good manual.
That's all. I have more money than time. If only I could buy time!

Ya I would like that manual too, for xl. but since there's not where can you get some reading material for xl. starting at os one and then going to ,os two helped but I'm sure there's more then I'm uncovering with my own intuition.

I would pay $ 75 for a complete MPC 1000 JJ OS2 XL manual from the basics to everything.

You know I need a book to get through more often and I can't learn from the original MPC manuals when the JJ addons are different from Akai OS! I HATE it when manual updates are some damn sheets and you can't get a learn flow and you don't know where to look for what.

JJOS2XL is still (not for too long i guess) in development. Yall should better wait.

I must admit I'd love a manual I can print and read on the loo or public transport, or use a quick reference when working away from the pc.
I don't like online manuals too much, plus the JJ ones are not exactly cristal clear...
