OS2XL - Adjust sample loop while playing in program?

Yo everyone...question.

I'm using OS2XL on the 1k. I'd like to be able to adjust my sample loop points while playing my instrument program. Is this possible?

If not, think we could suggest it to get into the next version of the OS?

It's a major workflow killer to have to jump into sample trim mode, adjust loop points, then go back into the program to hear my changes. It's taking me forever to properly put together samples this way.

Do you know about using "Program mode" in Trim? I think this does what you're asking for, it's a hot feature

Notes 3: When a program is INST, Pgm Mode does not work. (PgmMode is not displayed on F1)

...........wonder why it doesn't work in INST mode? Would be hella helpful :p

Now I see the benefit behind this! Nice. I love to learn new things about JJ. Especially when I know it will completely change the way I do stuff...

Not much use if you're trying to tune a sample spread across the keyboard in an INST program. Where can we request that JJ adds this?

I know this is a stupid question, but what exactly is INST programs used for. When i get home from work i'll play with that feature.

I use INST frequently, as I believe Portamento is only available for INST programs. I'll sample a synth lead and loop it, set up my filter to q-link, set my portamento and 'hoover' away. INST also auto picthes chromatically, time saver.

"INST" programs are the way more robust samplers (akai/emu racks, kontakt, etc) work on audio material by default. They let you take one (or more) sample(s) and spread it evenly across the keyboard.

For instance, say you have a synth and wanted to sample it so you could replay it on your MPC accurately.

You'd do this with an INST program. For the best audio reproduction you'd probably sample a low C key, medium C key and high C key. Then you set loop points on the notes, so you can hold down keys and have the note play indefinitely - like on your synth.

Map each sample to the proper range on the MPC and and you have a good reproduction of it without having to use your synth...

Now that's only really sampling 101. More creative uses come into play when you can take notes off records or from other material and create instruments out of those. Opens up a big world of sound design possibilities.
